hangunnr
Where oh where did all the shooters go? Oh well, political correctness claims yet another victim... --------------------------------------------------- Anyhoo........ Finally got everything completed for my safe queen... Got the stock back yesterday from getting the Terry Cross, Loggerhead hardware installed. What a friggin big difference a good cheek weld makes. Specs: Rem 700 S/A trued by IT&D Rock 5R 10 twist Sendero profile at 21.5", M852 chambered Manners T4 with Terry Cross adjustable hardware added Jewell trigger Kampfeld "campfire" shifter handle TPS 20MOA rail and super low 30mm rings Holland lug OPS Inc loudener, keeps the lookie loos back a couple steps.... Leupold 6.5-20X40 w/M1s Weighs 13#2.5oz as pictured This barrel seems to love the bullets in the 155gr range. It'll throw SMK and Nosler CC 155's into 1/2" with boring regularity. wtnhunt
Very nice Charlie. Next on my list here will probably be another 308.
smha6784
Sure is a nice rig !
dbHunterNY
yea I've only got stock rifles but I feel their weak link are the scopes. a custom 308 is something I've always wanted. tough too because I don't hand load. nice rifle. hold 1/2 MOA accuracy out to any distance? how's the scope; dial accurately back to and hold zero well enough? WNY_Whitetailer
Nice rifle...
hangunnr
This rifle has recorded several sub 1" 5 shot groups at 225yds but I haven't been solid enough with it to do it consistently. Should be able to stretch it out to 500 either this week end or next week. The scope has tracked exactly as it should. I have run it through it's 62MOA elevation travel and back to zero with no noticeable impact difference. I've run 15MOA box tests with pleasing results. Have some Scenars and Amax en route for further evaluation. CR
hangunnr
Haven't wrung out the Scenars yet but did some with the Nosler CC 168gr. Not spectacular, but headed in the right direction... CR
dbHunterNY
seems like you've got a decent shooter... it takes a lot behind the trigger to shoot tighter groups. should hold tight getting out there. looks like a mark4 LR scope. seems those results are good for that scope too. 15 MOA box tests definitely mean you're covered. hangunnr
Whew, the pace around here is hard to keep up with..... --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Things are starting to get interesting... .594-.308 leaves a .286 group for 5 shots. wtnhunt
Great group. Don't get anything quite like that out of my .308, but it sure likes the 165 sierra game king and 168 match grade bthp. Better shooter than me could probably ring out sub .500 groups with my gun. Whew, the pace around here is hard to keep up with..... Yup. Kinda funny how that has gone. John Andrews
That is what I call a fine shooting rifle! Congratulations on the fine build and work!
WNY_Whitetailer
308 is a great round. I just finished putting together a 308 AR but haven't gotten to the range yet with it. I like your stock. On my Savage bolt action 308, I have the standard Accu Stock from Savage. I would appreciaate the adjustable cheek weld...
dbHunterNY
a fart in the wind could definitely open up that last group. seems like it shoots plenty well to me. you're shooting match loads with it but any intentions of using it for anything other than paper? be a shame not to. elkoholic
I can not tell a lie, I think that it is one ugly rifle. On the other hand, it does get the job done quite well. Not sure I would take it up in the mountains on an elk hunt though.
hangunnr
....... any intentions of using it for anything other than paper? be a shame not to. Nope, range queen was the intent and sole purpose. CR
hangunnr
........that it is one ugly........Not sure I would take it up in the mountains on an elk hunt though. Ugly lies in the eye of the beer holder, purpose built machine and the purpose wasn't to be pretty. Anyone that would entertain the thought of humping a 13# 308 up a mountain likely needs his head examined. CR
