Turkeygirl
Received mail from Cabela's yesterday with an invite to Cabelas the day before the grand opening if I apply for the Cabela's card and bring the app. in. Was planning to go during the opening weekend anyhow. Was wondering if anyone has the Cabela's Visa? Was thinking of one anyway just for Cabela's purchases. wtnhunt
Yep Ruth, sure do. Only card i use and i use it everywhere i can to get points. Gas, groceries, other sporting goods stores all help add more points. Key is not to charge more than you are able to pay back each month. Basically use ours like we would a debit card. Pretty much use it the same here, look forward each year to building up some points and getting something for myself!
RangerClay
I have a Bass Pro Shops card. Simply because they are closer for me. Got $11.00 of my purchase yesterday. Again don't use it more than you plan. I like to make big purchases with it and then pay it off immediately.

Yep, pay it off every month and it's OK. Use it for gas mainly at the Cenex station and get 2x points & the biggy is applying for out of state hunting tags. Build lots of points very fast. good luck to all the dog
Turkeygirl
I have a card through my bank and pay it off every single month. Mainly used for online purchases. Does anyone know though, and I was trying to find it online but couldn't, what happens if you either cancel your card or just not use it? Because I'm thinking of switching to the Cabelas card, but I don't want to then have multiple cards...don't know if I can cancel the one or just not use it and when the exp. date comes, not renew? You can call any card issuer and request to have the card/account closed. Some if you go any length of time without using will close the accounts. Should be a phone number on the back of your card for their customer service reps.
fly
I do the same thing William does Ruth. Have been for about 10 years now. I use it so much I have the signature black card. I earn 200-300 points each year which = dollars in Cabelas merchandise. I get 1% when I purchase mon-Cabelas merchandise and 6% when I buy Cabelas stuff. wtnhunt
I use it so much I have the signature black card. I earn 200-300 points each year Same here. Been a few years we have hit 6-7 hundred points. Sometimes cabelas runs special deals too where they will triple double with purchases from them. You get 2x points on any purchases with cabelas when you use their card and 1x with other purchases. For a couple years they ran a club where some participating stores and gas stations offered bonus point rewards. Shame that ended. Think we have been carrying cabelas card since about 2000 or so. Imo they have great service for card members just like their regular customer service with their stores. Been a few rare occasions they have stopped my card transactions and called us due to what appeared to be fraudulent activity on our account. I do not ever give any info on incoming calls, so always call them right back to verify it is a legit call. Top notch as always.
dbHunterNY
Just don't use existing card. no reason to cancel. Use any card only for stuff you plan on already purchasing. Pay it off every month no exceptions. Forget interest. late fee alone will negate any points rewards. I use it for everything especially cabelas purchases. 5% back minimum when you do. You'll get $25 right away, special discounts on stuff, free shipping codes, etc. I've even gotten special invites for after or before hours personal shopping sprees. dogdoc
I love my Cabela's card. Their customer service is awesome. I got a brand new Excalibur Crossbow 2 years ago and didn't cost me a penny---all on Cabela points. Like others I pay it off every month. I hardly use cash for anything. If I can pay for it with a CC then it goes on my Cabela's card.
