Cnich226
Hey guys as the subject reads I wanna know what you bow hunters use as far as your release. I've only been into bowhunting and a me never of this forum for a year now but just now buying my bow. I've shot a bow with a trigger release but not a thumb release and I hear mixed reviews on both. If you guys and girls could help shed some light on the pros and cons and which fits your hunting style i'dreally appreciate it.
wtnhunt
I have mostly used trufire releases. Have tried back tension and is just a little awkward to me. Never really tried a thumb release, guess all about preferences.
hoosierhunter
I shoot a Scott release.
hoytshooter09
I also use a Scott release mines an open hook style. Thumb release or a back tension might be something to look at after you have a couple years shooting they take a little more practice to get down. Cnich226
See I was thinking of buying both cause I'm already comfortable with a trigger release but I can practice and build up with a thumb release. I don't care for having the strap aroun my wrist it always seems to rub my wrist and break skin.
Turkeygirl
I have a Trufire but don't shoot it. I shoot a Scott Shark and also a Scott Longhorn Hex I'm working on getting the hang. of. Love Scott releases!
hoosierhunter
Something isn't right if your release is rubbing that bad. But a different brand and if that doesn't work, it's a problem with your form drawing the bow.
Cnich226
My release is like the $20 try fire you get at wal Mart haha. This year I'm buying top stuff to avoid all the crap
Rhino
I use TruBall. Tried a thumb release in the past before and never could shoot groups like I did with a trigger release. JMHO but releases are sort of like bows...to each his own. What works best for one archer may not for another.
Zizzer59
I use a cheap $20 Allen caliper wrist release that's 4 years old and I have no complaints!
redkneck
Truefire is what I'm shooting now. Can't go wrong with them or Scott. I did pick up a cheap Allen one at Wal-Mart a couple years ago when I left my release at home and didn't want to drive the sixty mile round trip to fetch it. Works just as good I will say, just not quite the quality and smooth operation but heck it works every time.

Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
Been using a Scott little goose for quite a while now and it needs to be replaced. My next one will probably be a Tru-ball.
Ravin R10 man
Trufire spitfire ball bearing release
dbHunterNY
TRU Ball Bone Collector Beast II release... it's a hook style for faster hook up on a D-loop, swept back trigger to squeeze and pull through better, adjustable length barrel to fix you perfect, trigger breaks clean without feeling the inner workings much, it's got TRU Ball's ball pivot which lets the release fall out of the way when using your hands for something else, and it's got a buckle wrist strap for consistent tightness and length every time. TRU Ball customer service is pretty good too. I lost a spring out of it from a screw coming loose. They sent me one no questions asked and actually sent two springs of difference trigger weights. Their slogan is "Jesus Christ is the Only Unlimited Resource". Also the releases are designed, CNC machined, and assembled in the USA. Cnich226
I bought a tru fire hardcore 4 finger thumb release. After ready you guy post I figured I already have a trigger release so the thumb release might be good to try. Now the trigger release strap does bother my Han but that's cause it's Velcro but I'm not sissy about it ha. I will try it too to see which I preform better with. Thanks guys

Straight Shooter
I use scott releases for both my hunting and tournament bows. it's all a matter of what you will feel comfortable with using, mine are the little bitty goose. I would suggest trying a few different to see which you like best.
Cnich226
Well I don't think I will be investing in anymore releases until I actually have my bow haha
