elkoholic
One week from this coming Sunday I will be heading east of the divide to try a little early achery season antelope hunting. Mid August in the area I am going usually results in temperatures in the 90+ range and besides drinking gallons of water I am at a loss for a way to keep cool. I will be hunting out of a pop-up blind or improvised ground blind and also will be doing a little spot and stalk hunting. I have plans to get the meat taken care of should I have good luck but short of drinking a lot of water and wearing airy camo clothing I can think of nothing else to help keep heat exhaustion at bay. Any thoughts or hints? Or, do I just suffer through it?
wtnhunt
Good luck Dave. Sounds like you have a pretty good plan. Don't know if those ice rags would help much or not but might be worth checking on.
wtnhunt
My oldest used the frogg toggs towels for band camp when we had heat indexes near 110, said they work pretty well. Can put them around your neck, under your hat.

I have become less tolerant of the heat as the years have passed by and any relieve will be appreciated. Thanks for the idea.
SouthGaHuntingandOutdoors
Under Armour heat gear or RedHead heat gear work really well for myself and some friends. Both have "scent control". It's a thought. FYI, we hunt in South Ga in the awesome humidity :/.
pointing_dogs_rule
Take lots of water for the blind sit. Drink a bottle every hour. Under armour is good. Take water to wet the shirt and it will help to keep you cool. Wet Bandana on the head also helps. I have geard of people taking little electric fans into the blinds also. http://www.homedepot.com/p/O2Cool-5-in-Battery-Operated-Portable-Fan-FD05004/203121391 I'll chase them in late September during the rut. good luck to all the dog
