Turkeygirl
Anyone get their 2014/2015 hunting licenses yet? What do you think of the new system? I thought it was a total pain...getting the licenses individually....I use to get Super Sportsman, now it's buy each license separate, with the fishing starting the day you buy it, cost was the same anyway. LETMGROW
I don't get the changes. I see no good reason to change something which has worked well for years just to make a change. I know quite a few people who used to buy a sportsman or super sportsman license with no intention of using a one of the licenses at all but wanted to support the DEC projects and system. It doesn't really affect me any as I have a Lifetime Super Sportsman license. I still have to go to my Town Clerk to pick up my tags for muzzleloading, archery and DMP's. I feel the state will lose money for the DEC fund by complicating the process. Why fix something which worked so well for years?
Turkeygirl
Exactly...don't fix what isn't broken...the change to me really made no sense, but hey, at least we can hunt!
NY_Bowhunter14
not sure how everything works now... been in Germany the past three years... tried to buy my license the other day... although they DID have records of me buying a license before, they had no records of me taking the hunter safety classes... so I have to find the certificates or take the classes all over again... Needless to say, I wasn't too happy... I don't even know how much the licenses cost anymore... Haven't been able to hunt since 2010
Ravin R10 man
not sure what you had before, in Wis I get the Patron, and the machine kicks out a stream about 4 foot long with tags permits back tags etc. I get everything at one time and I'm done
wtnhunt
Sounds messed up Ruth. Pretty simplified here in TN really. License sales open in the spring before turkey season. Annual hunting and fishing license is one combo costs $28 then you buy license for each weapon you plan to hunt with, or you can get the annual sportsman which includes all. Rhino
Sounds like progress in reverse. Here in MS I buy a sportsman's license & it's just like a credit card. No tags in MS, except for gator tags. Buy my MO license online & just print out the tags. Save them in my computer too in case I loose a tag. If one's lost, just print out the lost tag & ready to go. RTF
Not interested in rushing out this year. Will by mine all separate when needed. I think NY really screwed themselves with this deal. They will see license revenue drop big time and be spread out. All I need now before October 1st is my hunting. trapping muzzloading and fishing can wait until I need it. The Bug House
I knew there were some changes, but I haven't kept up since moving to VT. I was surprised to see the non resident season fishing license drop $20 however!

RangerClay
Leave it to the politicians to stick their noses in DEC business. Remember this is NOT what the DEC wanted. The fee restructuring is ALL Cuomo's doing. We have all known since February this was coming. No sense in complaining now.
Adjam5
Maybe the old tag system was something that wasn't broke, Coumos democrat buddy gets the new contract to change the tags and the Moreland commission got close and Coumo shut down the investigation. I would put NOTHING past that guy. I have not had any issues with the new tags except they got here very late...Like last week. Cost is of no concern to me I don't even pay for DMP.'s I have been a lifetime sportsman, archery and muzzleloading licensee for many many years now and it has paid for itself many times over. Coumo thinks by giving the hunting rules and regs a makeover sportsmen will forget about the unsafe act.
dbHunterNY
bought mine a while back.... wasn't too bad. had a good person working at store and I knew how to guide them. absolutely ridiculous thought the problems they had. fancy paper bought with tax dollars is one thing but when it doesn't even fit right in the printer?!?! .....down right stupidity right there to nicely put it. that and now the order is all messed up so i'll have to pull list of tags apart much more than last time. there's even blanks in between some tags. complete waste of paper. Adjam5
Yes I agree Dan NYS DEC wasted a whole lot of money changing the tags and fixing a system that isn't broken. I wonder which one of Cuomos friends got the contract to do that? My son got tags that have the doc# printed on the perforated line where you tear the tag off. So after you tear off the tag you cannot read it. But don't you worry...The Gov says he is a friend of sportsmen... HA!
