Did 1 mule deer spot & stalk bowhunt about 15 years ago in Wyoming. It's a lot of fun and certainly different from bowhunting whitetails. Have some good binocs with you. A spotting scope will sure come in handy too.

All our hunting was at ground level. We tried to catch them going to bed during the early morning hours. I almost got a shot opportunity the 2nd morning doing that but the only clear shot I had was a 30 yard neck shot. After the early morning hunt we traveled & glassed from the truck a lot as we eased around looking for them bedded on the side of hills. We also did that on foot in areas we couldn't drive. When we found one big enough, we tried to stalk them by swinging around & moving in from downwind and from the uphill side. If you're glassing from the truck, don't let them see you get out of it to make the stalk. Move on until you're out of their sight before trying to move in. If one of you can position himself to watch the deer while you make the stalk work out your hand signals ahead of time. Makes it easier to have a set of eyes on the deer while you make the stalk. You may be able to use text messages. Wasn't an option back then. Killed my mule deer on the 5th afternoon stalking one bedded just below the top of steep incline on a hill. He's on the wall.
