CalvinHunter
Has anyone had luck with whitetail institute products? I am in Oklahoma with Sandy Soil.
hoosierhunter
They have not performed for me in sandy soil. No matter what seed you choose, make sure you use 3-4x's the recommended planting rate to achieve proper germination in poor soil,

Ravin R10 man
I have clay/ loam and it didn't even come up, our blends did well...contact Dog Doc on this site for Ok.
wtnhunt
Yep, Todd (dogdoc) will have good suggestions for you for that area. Never tried wi stuff other than the little trial packages and they were not enough to gauge. Have had very good results from Pennington products. We have sand in our bottom land, probably best plantings there have been eagle soybeans. Clovers have done ok.
OKstate
I bought some of the No Plow this year and will be testing it in sandy soil in OK. I will let you know if it works out!
CalvinHunter
Dogdoc - the WI products I am planting are Pure Attraction, Forage Oats Plus, Winter Peas plus and wintergreens. I will be planting on September 12th. We are just north of Calvin at crossroads on 75.
dogdoc
The only thing I have planted of WI is their clover and it did great. All those blends you mentioned should do just fine here in Oklahoma. As you continue to plant in the sandy soil you will start to build up the organic matter (OM) especially if you reincorporate the plant material back into the soil. What I mean by this is next spring till all the green vegetation back into the soil. I will mow my fall plots in the spring--wait about 2 weeks to get regrowth then spray glyphosate (round up) to kill everything. Then a week later till or disc all the dead vegetation back into the soil. This will increase the OM and greatly improve your soil for future plantings. todd
