rhine16 Posted September 16, 2014 Report Share Posted September 16, 2014 Hey Fellas, I recognize most of the names. Got a few that post a big deer every year. I'm in MS, season opens on Oct 1. Here's my hit list from what little trail cam running I've been able to do this summer. #1 is a no doubter. Only deer I've got pics of that I'd shoot with anything other than the bow. #2 is a 7 that I've been watching and passing for two years, including the last morning of season last year. This year he won't be so lucky with the bow. #3 & #4 are 8s that are most likely both 3.5 but will get arrows if I'm given the opportunity #5 is just flat ugly Looking forward to following along with each of your seasons! MUDRUNNER Posted September 16, 2014 Report Share Posted September 16, 2014 I'm ready to get this thing going! My season doesn't start till October 1st, but for the most part I'm ready. The last two years have been tough around here due to EHD, but this year is looking like it should be decent. Trail cam pics are still slow, but the weather had been cool & it looks like the farmers should have the corn out fairly early this year. Got up took the kids to school and decided to drive 2 hours to camp to check my cameras and move some treestands around. So after moving 3 stands i started to pull SD cards. The first couple only had a few doe and small bucks, and by small i mean the ears were bigger then the antlers. Deff not shooters. So i was pretty bummed at this point, but that all changed as i got to the last two cameras and started to see some decent bucks for this part of new york and one real nice big buck. I've got 1 more left to hang, and then I'll be ready for season. One new 3 or 4 year old 8 point on cam, but other than him, nothing new. It was really windy, but temps were below normal and it felt good to get in the stand again finally. It is the first time in over 20 years of hunting that I shot a deer opening weekend. Man, it feels good to get one early. I hunted with my cousin and he got a big doe also, so the season is started off right. I got her entered this morning. Reports from the property last weekend are promising. 11 deer seen in one sit, hopefully we've patterned them correctly now. I know where my first sit will be Saturday, guess I'll go from there. I doubt I'll be able to go hunting this weekend. My youngest boy has a soccer game tomorrow morning, and my daughter has a softball tournament all weekend long. The sports never seems to end lol. If it's not softball & baseball then it's soccer & basketball. My weekend schedule should be opening up here in the next few weeks, and I'm ready to get back after it. Just not anything that excited me. Great to be back in the woods once more. Will hunt Monday and Tuesday night. Not expecting any success. Both kids have soccer again this weekend, but it looks like i'll be able to get out again Sunday. I just realized that we were on the same team last year.
