Maybe we can pull off another championship in this thing.[/quote']Yea lets hope. well i got out sunday morning to bow hunt but didnt see any action. so i took my son out in the afternoon for a turkey hunt. well things worked out and we were able to connect on a bird. have to work this weekend so i wont be back in the stand until Monday. MUDRUNNER Posted October 20, 2014 Report Share Posted October 20, 2014 (edited) Sweet man...congrats on the turkey! Looks like time well spent. I made it out yesterday & got skunked. When the sun came up i noticed an oak tree was down blocking the main trail that goes by that stand, so i spent some time in the afternoon trying to get most of it cleared with my little crummy hand saw. I hunted with a good friend of mine & he seen a little six pointer, but that was it. Slow, slow day. The October lull is in full force here right now. Also, it looks like we have a no show on our team. SSkybnd hasn't checked in & it's been over a month since teams were posted. We got skunked on Saturday & never seen a deer. On the bright side it's starting to cool off a bit around here, so hopefully things start picking up. We'll be trick or treating tonight, then I have to bring my daughter to her soccer game tomorrow morning. After that's over I'm heading up to the farm for an afternoon sit & staying the night & hunting Sunday. I put a new stand up last weekend over a few scrapes that i can't wait to sit in. I've shot 2 doe, kind of hard to take a selfie when the weather is 70-80 degrees out and your trying to get em cooled down, and by yourself. The bucks here are on the move, no rutting, but their sure looking. Hopefully I'll have some luck this weekend. Veterans day weekend has always been good it seems. I hunted all day Friday & Sunday & seen 10 deer. Seven of them were little 1 1/2 olds. On the bright side it does look like daytime movement is picking up. The beginning of the week was slow but toward the end of the week the young ones started to get up and move more. Bow season ends here Friday and rifle opens Saturday. cold weather is moving in for the weekend so hopefully this gets the big boys up and moving. I've had several opportunities at bucks, but I figure in order to get big ones, you have to let something walk. Shot at one during muzzle loading season, nothing special, just wanted to try and get one with my new mz. I'm seeing bucks, but not in hot pursuit. It doesn't help either when your neighbor knocks a stud down with his mz, and then you see all these little bucks walking around. It kind of runs it for you! I did manage to get another nice doe on Friday morning, so that's two for the freezer, but doesn't help us on points. Talk about a couple of cold hunts.....the lows at the farm Friday and Saturday morning was 15 degrees. I seen some young bucks chasing a little Friday morning, but that was it for rut activity. I seen 12 deer on Friday, and one on Saturday. I'm not sure if lockdown happened or what the deal was, but it just shut down overnight. It looks like tomorrow should be good weather wise, but rain moves in during the evening and looks like a wash out Saturday & Sunday. I'll be spending some time in my ground blind if that happens. The deer completely shut down after that and i never seen another deer all weekend. Between our group of gun hunters only a doe & nice 10 pointer were shot....unusually slow for some reason.
