smha6784
Do any of you guys have experience with the ford eco boost? Im thinking about buying one but want some 1st hand reviews before I drop 30g's on a 6 cylinder.
NHOUTLAW
I took one from nh to il a few years ago. Was ok go forever on a tank but has a huge tank and as far as gas mileage my 5.3 gmc does just as we'll i think
wtnhunt
Think Frank (fly) may have been considering buying one a few years ago. Never driven one myself but have heard kind of mixed reviews on them. Don't know how the low end torque for pulling could compare to any modern mid sized v8, but guess efficiency on the road is probably a little better. fly
I was considering the eco boost back in March 2011. I pull a 27 foot travel trailer from IL out west to the mountains about every other year and in the 4x4 6foot bed with a tow package model the ecoboost was not available - only the shorter bed. I read the reviews and the mpg back then was only a couple miles better. While the torque was higher in the 6 cylinder and many people were telling me it would be fine, I wanted the longer bed so I went with the 5.4 L V-8. It's pulled my trailer to Idaho, Wyoming, and the Smokies. I get 15 mpg average and 10 pulling my trailer. If you don't pull large trailers I'd say the Eco boost 6 would be fine if you want to get a couple more mpg.

stevebeilgard
i have a chevy duramax crew cab short bed, and get 18-22 mpg driving highway speeds. it goes down to 11 mpg with under 10,000 lbs in tow and down to 8 with 20,000 lbs. i also lose 2 mpg at 80mph, so i stay at 72-75. dogdoc
I have a 2014 F150 Eco-boost. Best gas mileage I have gotten is 21 on HWY driving to Houston. Averages about 16---most city driving. I haven't pulled anything super heavy---flatbed trailer with my 34hp Kubota. Pulls great. I have 18,000 miles with no problems at all. Push that pedal and the sucker takes off like a rocket. I love my truck. todd

smha6784
i have a chevy duramax crew cab short bed, and get 18-22 mpg driving highway speeds. it goes down to 11 mpg with under 10,000 lbs in tow and down to 8 with 20,000 lbs. i also lose 2 mpg at 80mph, so i stay at 72-75. I traded in my 06 duramax for the eco boost had 200k miles and was rode hard and hung up wet, they gave me 15k for it I couldn't believe it. I hated to let it go but it was a really rough 199951miles. And the long commutes to the camp with jr I needed a more reliable truck. jcot2773
Honestly i'm not a huge fan of them, from everyone i know that owns one they get the same as their v8 trucks used to get before they traded in on an ecoboost, but then again i'm also skeptical about the longevity of a turbo gas truck motor if its used like a truck
RackBlaster
I am a Ford tech and I was skeptical at first but we haven't had one in the shop or complaint since they have been out.
