wtnhunt
Never put a scope on a lever action but would probably go with a 2-7 or 3-9. Would look at Nikon scopes if it were me, which one depends on your budget.
Ravin R10 man
Whatever you can afford, we grew up with Winchester lever action 30-30's... had scopes on them, either Leupold, or a Redfield. with scope and gloves on you had to really be careful cocking the hammer back, or letting it down, I believe we put side extenders on the hammers, just for safety sake. Zizzer59
We put a side mount scope on our 30-30 when I was little so I could hunt with it. Its hard to look through the scope when your left handed and the scope is on the left side of the gun!

I bet that looked funny...kinda like a cow sticking her head between the wires to reach fresh grass!..lol

cdeskins7
I have a browning .243 blr lightweight '81 with a bushnell sportview 3x scope, with the open mounts to use the iron sights still. Dead on at 100 yards and has been for over 30 years since my dad bought it... Goes to show you don't need anything fancy, just go something you can afford and practice will make perfect. Ultradog
No offense meant here of course but Given the ballistics on that round I kinda wonder why you would bother with a scope. It's really only good out to about 100 yards after all and iron sights are usually sufficient out to that range. Of course there's always extenuating circumstances... When I got to about 55 years old my eyes began to change and I was having some trouble focusing on the rear sight, front sight and target so I was thinking about a scope. But putting a scope on my rusty but trusy 30-30 Marlin - which has much better ballistics than a 44 mag - seemed a bit like putting a gold ring in a pigs nose so I just went with a new rifle. I still hate the scope - can't find my way into it, can't take a snap shot like I could with iron sights but you do what you have to do to keep on hunting I guess. It's your call of course but it's not something I would consider doing
VermontHunter
This is my .44 Mag. I mounted this Simmons 3x9x40 scope on it years ago, the high rise see through mounts are a must.
