dogdoc
What a beautiful morning in the new tower stand. On the way to the 160 we saw a shooting star--Mollyann said "That's good luck daddy--I'm making my wish." We got all settled in the stand at 6:40 and had a short 20 minute wait to legal shooting time. Well the first 45 minutes were very uneventful and around 7:45 Mollyann saw a deer walking in the tall NWSG field headed our way to the food plot (BTW--the plot looks awesome). The buck stops behind a small pecan tree and stood there for 5 minutes. That gave us plenty of time to rearrange the Caldwell field tripod. The buck then walked onto the field and gave us a perfect 75 yard broadside shot. As soon as the buck stopped I told Mollyann to take the shot anytime. As soon as "anytime" came out the shot was fired. The buck took off running and Mollyann immediately says "I'm missed daddy--I am so sorry." I'm watching the buck run and tell her "Girl--you didn't miss that buck." The buck runs about 100 yards and piles up. No waiting 30 minutes for this girl. She sees that buck hit the ground and she is jumping up and wanting out of that blind to go see her very first deer ever. A basic 6 pointer but he had already broken off his right brow tine but has a one inch kicker off that base so officially still a 6 pointer. Dressed out at a little over 130#. Her shooting star wish came true. One excited girl and very proud daddy!!! todd

fly
My son got his first buck last year at 11 years old. Also a 6 pointer weighing about 130 pounds. It's in the top 5 days of my life so I know how you feel. Nothing better! Congratulations to both of you!

dogdoc
Not a very good video--mainly (well really all) due to a poor videographer. Will still make some great memories. dogdoc
Get the shakes eh Todd? lol. Been there. Might try a tripod in that boxblind. I know---i usually use a tripod when hunting alone but didn't think I would get so shaky since I wasn't the one shooting. Plus I was trying to get her the ear muffs before the shot and had to move the caldwell shooting tripod bc the dang buck came in from the wrong side of the field. lol
