hammerforged
I wish South Carolina had a fall Turkey Season! I see them everywhere I go - just had 4 in my front yard for crying out loud! Of course when the spring season rolls around I won't be able to find them anywhere. What other states don't have a fall Turkey season. On a happier note did manage to put a doe in the freezer last night.
Rhino
Congrats on the doe Ross. MS 1st started offering a fall season a couple of years ago outside the Mississippi River levee but only for certain counties. Weird rules though...tags are issued to qualifying properties and are only good for the property they're issued for...1 tag for each 500 ac. Bag limit is 2 birds of either sex...season is open from 10/15 to 11/15. I'd rather just hunt gobblers in the spring in MS. In MO I get 2 turkey tags with my archery permit so during the MO archery seasons I can kill 2 birds of either sex. Only problem is...drawing a bow on a turkey. Good chance of getting busted trying to draw if you're in a treestand. A lot easier in a ground blind but I enjoy being outdoors while bowhunting. About the only time I'm bowhunting in an enclosed blind or shooting house is if it's raining. If I can ever get away with drawing my bow on a gobbler in MO, I will try to shoot one. hammerforged
You are correct Joe - My son-in-law and his little brother helping me process the doe mentioned above. Sorry for the crappy picture - taken with my phone.
wtnhunt
The fall turkey here runs along with archery. It has been an evolving process. I have gotten my bow drawn on a few before but never quite managed to pull off getting the shot. Always too many sharp eyes to get the shot from a treestand. We have a 2 week shotgun season this year, one bird either sex. That ends tomorrow. Congrats on the doe Ross.
RangerClay
Congrats on the doe! Hard to believe people still have no fall turkey season. Me on the other hand, I wish they would close our fall season to help the turkey numbers climb again.
VermontHunter
Congrats on the Doe Ross. We've had a fall season here for a few years now. I can only hunt them with the bow in my zone but it's a blast. Here's a video of one of my recent fall archery season hunts, hope you enjoy it. http://vid15.photobucket.com/albums/a368/VermontHunter/2012TurkeyBowKill.mp4
