stuckintherut
I have hunted the same area for 5 years. It is so remote that I have never seen a single hunter in the area. It has been a family secret and I have had great success in there with huge montana bulls each year. The last two years though, I have had nothing but disappointment in there. The largest bull disappeared from the herd and At first I thought another hunter had found my honey hole until I found the bulls carcass with nothing but wolf sign around. I already hated wolves but this has really aggravated me. In so many of my areas wolves have driven elk and moose out. Has anyone else experienced any of the same disappointment? smha6784
Martin should have something to say about those pesky wolves. Being down south wolves are not a problem here. But I have heard many a story about people having the same experiences as you up north.
Ravin R10 man
Right now, they are eating their way through Wis.,Min. and the U.P.. The are moving south, and have been sighted in northern Iowa and Ill. We have few deer left, I used to be able to see 12 to 15 deer at any stand. I now have a good eve. if 1 comes by. Most of the springs fawn crop are wolf turds before season starts, (hunters are not the problem), the rest will be taken when winter hits. A deer herd can not sustain numbers without fawns to replace the ones that are killed by whatever means. This Federal wolf reintroduction has been a major screw up as many Federal programs are. Just as the screw up in the Oval office! A local bowhunter watched a couple wolves take down a mature doe out in an open field before she even knew she was being pursued. They are killing machines..thats what they do EVERY day! He was going back to the cabin to get a rifle..I don't blame him. RangerClay
It saddens me to hear of what has happened to your favorite hunting spot. I'd tell you how I would fix it but it would get me in trouble.
Ravin R10 man
Our forefathers had it fixed..it's high time we follow the footsteps
smha6784
man just sit back and let my hard earned money that the man stole from me do what its supoosed to do. they take the tax money and pay people to destroy our past time and for some a means of meals, by reintroduction of wolves, then sooner or later tgey will have to pay someone to " sharp shoot" the wolves or relocate them. because the population has become to big and dangerous. then they have to pay someone to reintroduce deer, and other animals now almost extinct because of the re population of wolves. BUT THERES NO MONEY TO INCREASE SALARIES FOR FIRST RESPONDERS OR TEACHERS. ......... I digress...... wolves? the 2 legged or 4 legged?? end rant
Ravin R10 man
Wolf reintroduction was NOT well thought out at all...it should have NEVER happened. It's a matter of time before your herd is gone too..they will relocate to where the food IS, because the herd here is gone. DNR shot themselves in the foot on this. im your huckleberry
Its happening in and around Hudson Bay Saskatchewan too, they are driving moose and elk out of that area according to my friends.
Ravin R10 man
NO they are EATING them, dead animals cant run away, the animals will try to escape to a different area when wolf pack comes in. If the pack leaves the animals come back, but the numbers keep getting smaller. With the recent snowfall, it is alarming the reduced deer sign from the past year alone. We have much County and Federal forest, where you can drive for miles and you seldom cut a deer track. But there are plenty of "other" tracks. It USED to be the other way around. im your huckleberry
I misinterpreted my buddies then wolves they're like a heatseeker once they're on the scent they don't quit until they make the kill then they follow the prey to always have a food supply. Ravin R10 man
Wolves are VERY much like a heat seeker missle...they don't miss...the deer may leave but there is one less that got away...and yes they will go where the food is The most professional killers on the planet

im your huckleberry
I like living in Alberta, because with the purchase of our big game license we can shoot wolves on public lands until the end of November. We must still have permission on private land and if.we do game license still covers that , this is suppposed to keep populations lower. Ravin R10 man
Is it legal to hunt wolves where you live farmers are able to get a kill permit if they see one near the livestock. Unfortunately, some bleeding heart Liberal judge saw fit to place them back on the endangered speicies list a couple weeks ago... they are endangered for sure; :gun2:
im your huckleberry
Wolves are a problem here in Alberta, but a bigger problem is Cougars, in some areas they are over populated . They dont care what they kill as long as they are eating.
Ravin R10 man
we got Cougars here too..not too many tho..maybe they will kill the wolves?
