Black powder opened saturday. It was a hot weekend with temps around 90 and that knocked down any deer movement. Cold front moved in on Teusday so I knew that would get deer moving. Arrived in the stand an hour before shooting light 6am. Morning light arrived with only one small doe showing up. The rest of the day in the stand was totally uneventful until 6:30pm and doe and fawn show up and start feeding in the plot. A few minutes later a fork horn shows up and starts chasing the doe all around the plot. The young bucks hormones must be in over drive as he was harrasing the poor doe to death. Within 15 minutes I had 8 deer feeding in the plot but no shooter--all does, fawns, and the young buck. With about 10 minutes of legal shooting light left finally a big bodied deer comes out of the trees and makes a straight line of the Eagle Soybeans. He was facing me so no ethical shot presented itself. I glance at my phone to look at the clock to see how much time I have left--5 minutes. He finally turns and offers a 60 yard broadside shot with just minutes left. As the smoke clears I see him running past my blind. I give a loud grunt and he stops in his tracks and just stares at me. Within seconds he starts the wobbling and falls down 30 yards to my right. It's the big 10 that I got cam pics of just 2 weeks ago.
