JimT
Finally got out and shot the new to me 25-06. It was a battle trudging thru all this snow to set up my target let me tell ya. ...Anyways. I shot Federal Vital Shocks from 27 yards. Two shots and I was in the yellow so I moved out to 91 yards and got a 1.5" group. Pretty happy with that. I may be able tighten it up some this summer when I try a few more different loads thru it. These may work fine though, as I tried to shoot the three tacks off from my target after and just missed them every time. This thing hardly kicks at all and the trigger is sweet. I have found my new deer gun for sure.

AJ
Re: Results from the new Savage Sounds like its going to be a good gun for you. Its not uncommon for a production barrel to need a few rounds through the bore before it starts shooting good groups, but the 1.5" is promising. JimT
Re: Results from the new Savage I am hoping to tighten up the groups for sure by using different ammo, but it should be plenty for deer hunting. I rarely see a deer over 100 yards away. Seeing I will have under $300.00 into this whole setup, I cannot complain about the 1.5" groups ....lol. AJ
Re: Results from the new Savage [ QUOTE ] I cannot complain about the 1.5" groups [/ QUOTE ] I agree. That is more than good enough to shoot deer out to 300 yards. If you think about it like this: At 100 yards, the point of impact will be within 3/4" + - of your point of aim. That is plenty good enough for hunting.
dogdoc
Re: Results from the new Savage Jim--glad you are enjoying your new gun. I don't think I have shot my .30-06 since purchasing the .25-06--just a sweet shooting caliber that is sooooo easy on the shoulder! todd
