Really no other way to describe it. Obama you and the fine people who voted you in on the premise of "affordable healthcare" really screwed over a lot of working class families. Don't know who it has become more affordable, for us insurance has more than doubled since you took office. No reason a 70 30 ppo plan with insane deductibles should cost a family 12 grand a year, that supposedly with the employer paying half?

I have yet to hear anybody in a working class family to say their insurance has become more affordable.

Thanks, guess those collecting who don't pay are the ones has become"affordable" for, ooh wait a lot of them get insurance free!!! Yeah sure makes sense.

I'm right there with you. I pay about $11,000 a year for my portion, and my employer pays a portion also. On top of that my coverage stinks compared to what it used to be. My co-pays, prescriptions, and out of pocket charges are outrages. It gets me red faced just thinking about it. There is know way that my health care coverage should be more than mortgage is. It is killing middle class families everywhere.

Back in 1994 I got my first job that offered health insurance when I moved to Minnesota. They wanted $6 every two weeks for coverage, and I said "no way man, that's $12 a month....I need that money for other stuff" lol. Man times have changed.

oh--and don't you remember him saying "if you want to keep your current health coverage you can". Well that was a bold face lie also. Nope--couldn't keep my current policy. My daughter has crohns. Her treatments that she takes every 8 weeks used to cost me around 200. Now they cost me 1200. Prescription plans suck. He is the downfall to the working man.

Yep we pay for insurance we are afraid to use....trouble is that I end up using it anyway. I am currently making a decision on some medications. Guess I will go for the lower cost one with more possible side effects. Cost difference is $1100 a moth to $20 a month. My deductable is $3500 so I would have to come up with the cash for the one only 3 months....but what would I eat?

Our plan is going up 17% so I will pay $4200 for my share.

Think some employers are intentionally pricing their plans so ridiculous so their employees will look elsewhere. Should be illegal, obamacare never should have been allowed to happen, a lot of people myself included warned this would happen.

We are opting out of this "discounted group rate". Gonna apply for a plan through a local agent which will have us being "lawbreakers" and paying the 1 percent penalty but still will be much more "affordable", and a better plan too.

Yeah Martin, this gruber jerk has said enough to implicate himself and obama. Hope the new congress follows through with an investigation!

  • 2 weeks later...

Not to bring up a sore subject again, but we just had a meeting with our insurance broker at work this afternoon. It looks like starting January 1st, out rates will be going up 18%. It looks like my portion next year will total about $13000......yikes. Something has got to give with health insurance sooner than later, because this is just not sustainable for middle class incomes.

No it is absolutely not sustainable to middle income working families. If you factor in insurance costs i would be willing to bet a lot of middle income are now no longer middle income.

My wife opted out of her employers(funny swiping that came up exploiters) plan, open enrollment its over. I don't see how there is any way any group plan can run 13 grand a year. How is it possible the employer is kicking in anything? Seems on the contrary that something very wrong is going on, someone somewhere is padding their pockets.

We will have to pay a penalty but we are buying an independent plan through our insurance agent. Some concerns with that, we will see how it works out.
