Ravin R10 man
FYI Pump prob.(don't wait if yours starts to go) Silverado '05 with 123k started getting hard to turn at low rpm. Turns out the pump was going, so had it replaced, also had the gear box replaced as fine metal from pump plugged that and could not be unplugged. Was a bit spendy, but at least it's safe to drive again. As long as it was up on the rack I threw a set of Heavy Duty shocks on too, with the 8 ply tires back in Oct. she rides like a new truck now. Ravin R10 man
was not on warranty...just part of upkeep if you keep 'em for awhile..
Shaun_300
I've seen that quite a bit on the trucks. Glad you got it fixed up Martin. They steer like brand new after a new steering box. Had quite a few impressed customers after having that done, most don't even notice how worn it actually was until it gets replaced!
Ravin R10 man
got that right, it must have been going for awhile..was spendy, but what isn't these days? At least it wont lock up and send me into a head on now...or stranded, backing a trailer was impossible
MUDRUNNER
I'll have to keep an eye on this. We have 130,000 on out '05 Suburban. I haven't noticed anything unusual yet.
Ravin R10 man
Mud..it felt as if somebody had grabbed the wheel and was holding it while you turned a sharp turn at low rpm, it pretty much locked up to where you made extra wide turns like you would pulling a trailer never had a prob at high speed Edited February 6, 2015 by Mathews XT Man
John Andrews
I bought a new '94 Toyota T100 4X4 and at about 50,000 miles, power steering pump died. After-market pump had better offer than factory replacement. I traded that truck for a new '01 Tundra and had no problems. It got traded for an '06 Tundra and absolutely no problems. Our patrol trucks at work are mostly 4X4s. They are Chevys and Fords, and one big older 4X4 Dodge that I like to drive. Most of our trucks are new, furnished by Uncle Sam. With proper service, we don't seem to have many going in for repair. Our patrol cars don't hold up as well, for obvious reasons.
