slugshooter
In light of the recent thread about what you would buy if you had a certain amount of money, my choice was the Benelli R1. I was thinking about my choice and realized that I don't think I have ever read anything on here about that particular rifle. I am sure someone on here either owns one or has shot one. I was just looking for any impartial reports on this rifle. I probably would never get one just for the price, unless I came into some money that I could toss away on it but I have a Nova and am extremely happy with it and all that Benelli has. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this rifle.
JimT
Re: Benelli R1 Benelli makes nice firearms, no doubt. I have not heard anything bad about it. I read this article just last night about the R1. Kinda funny you mentioned it...... R1 A buddy of mine researched this rifle and plans to have one by the time deer season rolls around. AJ
Re: Benelli R1 I can't see spending $1000 for a gun that shoots 1.5" groups. Not this guy.
too_pointer
Re: Benelli R1 I posted about this gun as soon as I read about it. Got pretty much the same replies, nice, but better out there for the money. I still want one though. I love my semi-'s LOL too_
mitrrophybowhunter
Re: Benelli R1 It has not been as well taken as I thought it would. I was going to buy one in 300 mag but ended up with a BAR in 300 WSM. Go to the Benelli forums they sent some of those guys out with them before they hit the market. Some good and bad stuff about them. Do some research on people who have shot them NOT magaizne articles that may get some monies for doing a article
slugshooter
Re: Benelli R1 Went on the Benelli site, it's been a long time since I have been on there, figured I would see what is new. I noticed they now have added a .308 and .270 to the R1 lineup. I need to check out the forums though, with the addition of a .308 model though I am seriously tempted, although I would definitely have to put that baby on layaway......and lie to the fiance about the price. slugshooter
Re: Benelli R1 [ QUOTE ] I can't see spending $1000 for a gun that shoots 1.5" groups. Not this guy. [/ QUOTE ] I'm not too concerned with a 1.5" group, I'm not going to be doing any accuracy contests and I would surely not be trying to pick which heart ventricle I wanted the bullet to go through. Plus, according to the article posted, the shooter only tried out one type of ammo, if a tighter group is desired it might be possible with a different load than what was used. JimT
Re: Benelli R1 If I could have an auto loader this would be it. The big reason is its light weight. I am more of a bolt and pump fan, but this would be my auto of choice.
slugshooter
Re: Benelli R1 Went on the Benelli forums last night and I was hearing of groups with the R1 of less than an inch with factory ammo and tighter with hand loads. Didn't hear anything that would really scare me away from the R1, the only thing that seems like it would cause me aggravation is that apparently they make it difficult for a lefty shooter like me to engage or disengage the safety, but, it can't be any worse than what I have to deal with already. I can shoot righty as long as I am looking out of a scope anyways.

too_pointer
Re: Benelli R1 I have owned 2- 742's. I loved them both. I now have the updated 7400. I like the Benelli R1, especially with the new caliburs. It certainly shoots accurate enough for me. !! too_
