1BigOX
So I got into predators last year when I wanted to extend my hunting season. I live in Western New York, heavy woods with some small open fields. I have seen foxes during deer season and coyote sign on some of my property. I bought a Primos Turbo Dog and have been trying to hunt the hunters. I do not know how loud I should I have it set. It has settings from 1-100 and I have tried blasting away around 80 on the field edges and quieted down to 25-30 for in the woods. I know my camo and scent control is on point. Just wondering where to put the volume for best results? Thanks Call 'em in, cut 'em down.
Ravin R10 man
If you are out in the open crank it up, reduce sound upon seeing animal responding and coming in. I know crow hunting they will land short in a tree, we then go silent for a minute, thn hit a mouth call and they just jump off and here they come. wtnhunt
Welcome to the forums. Would call as loud as you can so long as your caller remains clear. Got an old Johnny Stewart caller here and it gets distorted when I turn it up.
1BigOX
Thanks for the tips. I am going out early Saturday morning and will keep it loud on the field edges and reduce it when I get one coming on a rope. I know in the heavy timber I have to turn it up so the sound will travel. I am just always worried that I go in there and blow their eardrums out. What's the worst that could happen? I still get blanked? I will let you know how this weekend goes. Call 'em in. Cut 'em down.
