wtnhunt
Kind of cool this year we have gotten pics of same bucks in almost the exact same place months apart. Trail cam pics angles and different views sure can make the same deer you see in late season look like a younger deer. Whether it is a condition issue from lesser food quality in the late winter or the bucks not recovered from running does, can see a difference in weight with pics. January, trimmed down. Deer looks pretty lean in the gut. December These last two in November Same deer I posted pics of in another thread. some thought he might be a 3.5 year old. I might have thought so too from the November pics. First pic above, body shape is closer to that I would have guessed would be a 1.5 year old. fly
I learned that trail cam pics can be deceiving this year. He sure looks younger than 3.5 in these pics. After losing one to a thief I'll not be using them on public ground any more. My cams are on the shelf till July. The new 990i has a different programming interface that is a little easier. That last pic must mean the groundhog didn't see his shadow???
Rhino
Yep...late season pics can be deceiving. I've noticed this since I first started running trail cams back in the days when the only ones available were cams using 35mm film. Bucks can loose a lot of weight during the rut. Add in the fact that quality food sources are rare for them to recover that time of the year. This can easily give you the impression they are younger due to their reduced body size. Ravin R10 man
I'd lose weight too if I was chasin, and not stopping to eat...

VABuckSlayer
Maybe I need to start "rutting" so I can loose about 20 lbs! lol
