Rhino
Yep...spring turkey season is just a couple of weeks away here. Opens March 14th in MS this year. I know a lot of you still have a long wait so hard for some of you to start getting fired up about it. I'm starting to get fired up now! It's my favorite time of the year to be in the woods. If the weather ever cooperates I'll be heading to the woods to listen for gobbling turkeys on the roost. Spring green up is just around the corner too. Great time of the year to enjoy the woods coming back to life, not to mention how gobbling birds make the hair stand up on the back of my neck. Looking forward to a fun filled turkey season here, in Kansas, and in Missouri this year. Anyone else getting fired up yet?
OKstate
I am ready to go, but still have over a month before the season opens.... Hopefully the weather cooperates here in OK and we start seeing some warmer temps in the next couple weeks.
Strut10
With the thermometer at 4 degrees right now (and only a week ago -26) it's pretty hard to even start dreaming. But in about 5 weeks I'll be off for a Rio hunt in Tejas !!! I'm getting a little antsy. Yep.
colorado bob
Our NWTF banquet is next Saturday. I can't wait for the Realtree hunt in Kansas----I need to try out the slate call I won on last year's hunt. Good luck in MS, hope you don't have to go swimming this year ! Rhino
...hope you don't have to go swimming this year ! I hear that! Made a mad dash yesterday to get a trail cam I set close to the Big Black River before it went under water. River gauge closet to the property showed the river was at flood stage. pointing_dogs_rule
Later season for me. First a little Iowa, then off on a road trip... Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota & Wyoming. Always a good time.
RangerClay
I used to get all worked up over turkey season but not anymore. Between the coyotes, coons and now fishers our local population is about 80-90% lower than it was 10-15 years ago. I enjoy walking the woods but when you walk all day without hearing one gobble, it gets discouraging
