cdeskins7
Just two more restless nights until opening morning here in tally town florida. Good luck to all those who open up this weekend (I know it's Georgia opening weekend as well) and to those who have been fortunate enough to have hit the woods already! cdeskins7
Dang, we've had about two weeks of warm weather here so I'm hoping they haven't henned up already, after being abnormally cold the weeks prior.

cdeskins7
Only had one gobble on Saturday, watched him fly off his roost only to be spooked by a distant gun shot before he made it to me. Walked three hours Sunday morning without hearing a thing.
Rhino
Made my 1st turkey hunt of the season this morning. Didn't hear a bird within a half mile of where I sat & listened at the crack of dawn. Got to a gobbling bird about the time he hit the ground...close!!! Had to take a tree quick with a very limited short view. Never saw him but he was close enough to hear him drumming. Saw 8 of the hens that were roosted close to him and heard more hens near him I never saw. They went away & then down the side of the ridge I was sitting on & it's REAL STEEP! Couldn't believe they did that! Later saw 4 male turkeys but way too far in a field and behind weeds to tell if they were jakes or gobblers. All I could see on them was from their necks up but 1 gobbled once. About 20 minutes later some deer spooked them off. Threw in the towel and while I was driving out in my Ranger EV I drove up on 3 gobblers within 100 yards of where I started at the crack of dawn. Got inside 25 yards before they walked off going down the same ridge I was sitting on at dawn. No clue why they weren't gobbling on the roost or where they came from. Fun morning for my 1st turkey hunt of the season. Saw a lot of game...other than the birds I already mentioned, 3 other hens, 21 deer, a pig, and a lot of wood ducks. Probably heading back to the woods for round 2 tomorrow morning. Rained this past weekend and rain moves back in Thursday & Friday then gets cold this coming weekend. Fingers crossed it's not windy and cold this weekend.
