Rhino
Returned to MO last Thursday evening and woke of to a cool breezy morning. Had a 2 birds gobbling on the roost in front & behind where I chose to start the morning. At 6:10 all gobbling ceased. With 2 birds close by I decided to wait a while. I'd occasionally dish out some hen talk and gobble when crows were close. Never got an answer. It was getting to the point where I was considering a move when a lone gobbler came in silent from my back left side at ~8:00 passing my left side at ~15 steps. Let him walk out to about the 25 yard line before I decided to take aim. No bow this time...shotgun blast had him flopping right there. My 2nd MO bird is a 2 year old with a 9 3/4" beard and 3/4" spurs. That wrapped up my season. While looking for morels the next day bumped a hen off this nest. Never have seen a nest with this many eggs in it.

Ravin R10 man
Man that Gobbler musta rode her all day! maybe two hens are sharing the nest?...lol Edited May 11, 2015 by Mathews XT Man
Rhino
maybe two hens are sharing the nest?...lol Extremely unlikely Martin. During the nesting period hens change their behavior and avoid other hens around their nesting sites. Only after she is a significant distance away from the nest site will she associate with other birds.
dbHunterNY
congrats Al. long beard is a long beard this year. seems to be a slow year for many. looks promising for next couple years with an egg layer like that. hopefully recruitment is good and they survive.
