Lousy forum software

Ya know,

This has to be the worst forum software I have ever seen.

I belong to about 10 different forums on one topic or another and this is the worst.

I post a lot. I can definately find my way around forums.

I can deal with changes and upgrades. I can deal with complete new interfaces.

But here?

Sheesh!

I like to post photos. I post photos everywhere.

Here you can't post links without getting error messages.

You can't can't hotlink photos from another site.

My photos are too big to be hosted from here. Error!

Posting a link is confusing as hell - more error messages.

Who does the nuts and bolts behind this board? I wish I could talk to them.

I have mentioned this before how the traffic here has all but dried up.

Is that RT's intent? To get out of the forum business?

This place used to have a lot of posts. I've never posted that much here but enjoyed reading what others said.

Are there any other hunting boards as good as this one USED TO BE?

Can someone pm me a link?

Sorry for the rant.

Maybe one of the mods will see fit to pass it up to management.

Get your act together RT!

Done now

I noticed the other day that I could not create a new post here so I contacted Scott on FB. He in turn contacted Clint or "Gray Loon" who now is in charge of the forums. They cleared out a cache of something or another and now we are somewhat good to go. It's a shame that our admins don't even come around to check on us.

I hope they get this cleared up but I still believe we become have the red-headed step child of Realtree.

Of all the forums I have belonged to, Realtree seems to love upgrades the most. It has been those constant upgrades that have been a cancer. I have belonged to one other forum longer that than this one and it's the SASS Wire. They have upgraded twice since 2002. Here on Realtree however we have had how many??? I think at least six by my count and the last two have caused a mass exodus of members.

I lost count of how many upgrades we've had here since 2002. Most were truly upgrades but this one...NOT. I believe we've had more of an exodus of members due to this one. Didn't notice past upgrades cause an exodus before like this.

Don't know if anyone else is still having this problem but ever since the upgrade, it's difficult to change, add to, or modify your text. If I go back into the body of what I've typed to change/add anything it kicks me to the end. That's been happening ever since the upgrade...one problem that's never been fixed. Error messages have been coming and going in the past until recently.

Mods here have nothing whatsover to do with the issues with these forums. Yeah loads of issues, pms do not work, pic posting issues, posts may or may not go through, the list goes on......

Scott Hughes is the rt administrator and Clint Davis is the forum admin. [email protected] [email protected] I have sent several emails in the past couple years about problems with the "upgrades" I have pretty well given up!!! Maybe enough members contact them something might get done, dunno.

Yes, this is frustrating Al and it is not just you. Thought when I first had that issue it was just my computer, but it was only happening here on the forums and was happening with both my ;aptop and later discovered it was also with the desktop so it was not just my computer that was the problem.

I cannot even fix my above mistakes here within this post, keeps kicking me to the end. The mobile app will let me fix them with my phone though. But so much with the app does not work right if at all either.

Still prefer my rt camo over others too, but that is besides the point. So much was done to promote the rt site in the early days. The rt outdoors show ran ads promoting the site and the forums at one time. Then there was the involvement by rt people in this site and the promos like the lucky logo game.

Yeah, now it seems this place is somewhat abandoned aside from the "upgrades" that don't get finished. Real shame as this was the best hunting site on the internet, with great members still here could be again but not with all the software problems keeping folks away.

Hey Folks,

We've had some major struggles with the forums over the past year, and we know it's been frustrating. Here are the major issues we've been dealing with:

  1. Mobile App. We're completely dependent on vBulletin to update the mobile app. We (along with other forums admins) have complained about issues with the app. Unfortunately, they haven't been very responsive. I would highly suggest Tapatalk instead. It seems to be much more dependable. Or, you can access the forums in our mobile browser.
  2. Missing Photos. During a major upgrade last year, there was an issue that caused the forums to basically "forget" many photos and albums. We worked with support, but there was no feasible way to get everything back to normal.
  3. Uploading. I've heard of a few issues people had uploading pictures. I've tested the upload functionality in recent versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Internet Explorer with no issues. If you experience an issue, please provide the OS, browser, photo type, and photo size when sending a report.

We've run into more and more issues on the current hosting platform. We have a new hosting platform in place, and we'll be scheduling a forums move in the coming weeks. This should offer a more reliable experience and allow us to troubleshoot issues faster. Stay tuned for updates.

If you're having an issue that's not listed above, please post it here. We'll try to address those in a timely manner.
