Maine Hntr
who out there has a garden going? I know some of you are big time farm guys, how they doing this year? I did my first garden this year and have really enjoyed it, something to keep me occupied that gets me outdoors and holds me over till deer season. Starting to wreak the benefits of the fresh veggies this week with Zucchini, tomatoes, beans and peas...
wtnhunt
Yep. Way down sized this year. Plenty of rain, been so wet a lot of farmers complaining about troubles with insects and weeds. Should get decent tomatoes and pepper crop. Nothing like fresh peppers and onions. Lima beans about to start coming in.
Nut
Gardening done by buckets here. That what happens when you move to a place made of clay.
Shaun_300
Yep I put a fair size garden in this year. Think its 20x8. Have green and yellow beans, green and red peppers, jalapeños, tomatoes, lettuce, carrots and onions. It's doing very well. Have had just the right amount of rain. Looks like everything will yield a lot! Looking forward to fresh yellow beans.... mmmm my favourite!!

Tominator
Mine is pretty much under water. I got some peas the other day. One plot of corn might do OK, I don't know about the other things I planted. Way too much rain in Ohio this year.

The Bug House
Been a wet and cool Summer so far here .... I keep 2 veggie patches and they are both off to a very slow start. Only the past few days have been warm ... don't think we've hit 90 at all yet. Haven't even gotten a pea yet, and something chewed the beans right down to the stem. Grrrrr. I plant tomatoes in the front yard, they get full sun there, they are finally looking good! I like to keep it simple, and relatively small. Usually grow a couple varieties of tomatoes, cukes, peas, string beans, carrots and some lettuce. It's amazing how much we can get from 2 small patches! The kids really get a kick out of it. The Bug House
One thing thats is really popular here are local Farmers Markets. There are 3 or 4 great ones close by, the "localvore" movement is booming. We get tons of local produce and support local growers at the same time. The markets themselves are quite the scene ... live music, fresh baked goods, hot coffee. We usually go for breakfst as often as we can. archerjg
We have a 1/4 acre garden on the small farm my wife bought last year. Hasn't done too bad lots of green beans, cucumbers, andd squash. Tomoatoes, peppers, watermelon, pumpkins, and other things on the way. The fields and garden along with all the fruit trees have kept me busy. arrow32
Some good looking gardens. We moved this year so this is the first time in a little while I've not been able to put one in for lack of time. Will do next year. On the other hand the boy and his grandma put one in up at the house and it is doing very good. Have gotten a lot of beans and peppers and some tomatos so far. Everything else is doing pretty well to. Should have corn coming off here at some point and some melons.
