Not to complain but...

Without a doubt it's been one of the wettest summers in the midwest in a long time. I was recently in MO trying to get some preseason projects and farm chores done. Fortunately it only rained once during the week while I was there. Still though, the rivers and creeks were already near flood stage and the one rain we had was enough to backup and flood ~20% of a 110 ac. bean field. Corn in low lying areas looks either bad (at best) to a total loss. The corn is at ground level in the total loss areas. Needless to say, while I was there working, a lot of it was in muddy conditions. Some of our clover plots had been under water long enough to kill everything in them. We'll have to plant those plots next trip in a fall forage if they're dry enough to disk. Heading back to MO Tuesday for about a week. Hope to have some pics to share from the 8 cams we set on high ground mineral licks last time. The low ground mineral licks may not see trail cam action this year.

By the way...heat has been terrible since I got back to MS. Made a trip to the MS woods yesterday to do a few things & set 5 cams on mineral licks here. By 2:00, I was sick of the heat and soaked from sweating. Glad we're making the quick turnaround to head back to MO where it's a lot cooler than the 98 to 103 degree temperatures we're having here in MS right now. Fingers crossed it's a lot cooler here by the time I return from this next MO trip.
