wtnhunt
Buck the wife killed last year had a kind of goofy right side where the beam stubs at the last point similar to this one we are getting this year. Without going back on tc pics after thinking about it I am almost certain we have had a few bucks like this around for a couple years now. Thought this one this year might be an injury, but after looking closer not so sure, thoughts? What about age guess on this buck, thinking 2.5. Rhino
Thinking 2.5 too William. Hard to say if it's a genetic thing or what, especially on a young deer.
Tominator
Don't know if you remember Bruno or not, but there have been a lot of deer in my buddy's area that grow really nice left sides, but invariably, really stubby right sides. fly
Looks like 2.5 - my guess would be genetics. You may remember this one: I'd say this was an injury. Edited August 27, 2015 by fly
Turkeygirl
Regardless those are some unique bucks! I should post a photo of a buck skull I found this spring in the area, probably from an injury I'm guessing
abrown
It could also be injury. Usually bucks that get injured during fighting, aka hooked in the junk, or maybe smacked by a car will more than likely have damage to the opposite side antler. wtnhunt
Thanks for the replies. I do remember that deer on your wall Chris along with the other one. Yeah, leaning towards thinking this is likely genetic since it is showing up on the same side to the beam. Would seem unlikely to be an injury show up the same way in multiple bucks, but suppose it could be. Being that we seem to have more bucks around than does, if I see this deer during the archery season I may take him out, would get a better guess on his age that way and might prevent the genes from passing on if in fact it is a genetic thing, of course it could be that the genetics could be coming from one of the few does that are around, but that would seem unlikely too since most does kick their buck fawns out of their area.
