dialing it in, where are your dots set

I had the crossbow on and had not done much shooting the past couple months with it being so hot. I read somewhere a while back that you should set up for 10,20,30 that the dots were calibrated to those distances, that would never work. I have run some shots through the chronograph and it is sending bolts at roughly 330 fps. Inside 25 is all one dot, sound right?

A few weeks ago got out shooting and had an issue with the crossbow, the plastic arrow retainer piece broke. Had to take the red dot off and of course that meant the scope was not on when I put it back together. Got it all back together and setup and got to shooting, first dot set and good enough at 25, just a little left. Started backing up, went to 35 and was half way in between the first and second dot, few windage adjustments had the left/right centered up. Second dot was dead on at 45, put 3 bolts inside in a pretty tight group, all perfectly centered. Very impressed, with the bow itself, however my eyes with the red dot are not great. I did not push out past 45 yesterday, but still have the one lower dot left. Bolts are still burying in the target at 45, so seems there is still a good bit of energy. Dunno that I would take a shot that far, but pretty confident I could if everything was right.

Anyhoo, where are your dots, lines set on yours?

We have my daughters Recruit set up for 10,20,30. They seem to be pretty close. If I remember correctly there is only a couple of inches difference on where the arrows hit the target between 10 and 30 yards. I don't really want her to shoot past 20 yards just yet, so I just have her use the middle dot for 20 yards and in. Barnett doesn't use the highest quality scopes, and I have read about some complaints with them. If we end up shooting ours quite a bit more I might upgrade the scope, but for a few hunts a year and occasional shooting in the yard it's adequate.

My Ten Point shoots 316 fps. I set the dial on the scope to the speed it shoots (316) and the elevation for the first dot is automatically set for 20 yards. The 2nd, is for 30, the 3rd is for 40 and the 4th for 50 yards. I adjust the dial for left and right as needed and it's ready to go. There are three visual settings - black dots no light, red light, and green light. I purchased lighter bolts and shot 320fps last season. I dialed it to 320 and all the dots were good to go.

That setup on yours looks good Frank. Will probably eventually change away from what i have to something like that, maybe even a fixed 3x. Maybe i can save enough cabelas points up for a new scope before next season. lol

Gonna have to do a little more practice at random yardages with guessing which dot.

Broadhead poi with practice blades is same as field points.

20, 30, 40, 50 yds ... came set up like that, no need to change anything yet. I've practiced out to 40yds ... not comfortable taking a shot beyond that. My Parker claims 320fps (IIRC) I've udes the 1st dot for 10 and 20 yds without an issue..... Also experienced negligible difference between field points and practice broadheads.

What BH are ya'll shooting? Noyt sure if I will be able to hunt with mine this year, but if I do, debating on a good head. Tried my Magnus Stingers last year, but they didn't shoot good past 20yds. I can't really spend alot of time messing with BH's this year.......

Muzzy's here, 3 blade 100 grain. They are pretty consistent. Tried wasp fixed blades and could not get but one of them to hit consistent.

Burned some points at cabelas on a nikon bolt xr scope that will be going on the raptor just as soon as I can find some rings. Gonna have to dig through some stuff in the basement, think I have a set of low rings somewhere.

Think the scope will be a lot easier to shoot with than the "premium" red dot was, and should give better increments with the bdc reticle.
