I am getting there. Need to hone my 20 yd skills a little better. I made the transition this year to traditional tackle. I am shooting a 1961 Indian Deerslayer 50/28. Using original Bear Cedar arrows and most likely Zwickey or woodman broadheads.. I am prepared to be disappointed and wishing my Matthews was with me when that buck of a lifetime just steps out of range of my recurve.

Good Luck to you.

I'm ready! Going to archery hunt with my compound for the first time this year. Seems like every year something is going on where I can't but I am making time this year. Stand is being built, half way there, main frame and supports are in the tree, just gotta finish building the floor today and put it up. Was hoping to have it done by now but more important things have come up! Season opens October 1st here in eastern Ontario. I need to get some more arrows and broadheads. Down to one practice arrow so it's a bit of a pain shooting once, retrieving my arrow, and shooting again LOL. Oh well got the bow dialed in, pins are set for 10,20,30 and 40. Have one more pin on the sight, might try and set it for 50 but I don't think I'd shoot at a deer that far until I practiced a LOT. Most of my shots will be between 15 and 30 yards from the tree.

in after morning sit...saw lots of does, cant shoot them this year

bucks not seen so far..

since cams are not showing any bucks, we went fishing instead, and did not even sit this eve.

opted for a fire ring and smores instead

think action may pick up during rut, we do have does here, maybe they will pull in a few nice bucks

Martin' date=' Why no does this year ?[/quote']

Same as last year...Wolves have eaten the deer up, and the DNR never reacted to hunter complaints of the dwindling herd.

Bears also eat alot of fawns.

then you combine all the doe tags on top of the "Extra" deer taken by these animals...your herd reaLLY GOES DOWN EXPOTENTIALY!

good news is, we are seeing fawns this year, after three years of wolf season those numbers have greatly been reduced.

It's going to taKE YEARS FOR THE NUMBERS TO REBOUND HERE

Not using my compound this year, rotator cuff issues gonna have me using the crossbow. Ours opens the Saturday after next and I plan to go if the weather is not ridiculous. Got one more stand to hang, waiting on a stick ladder and another lifeline to get here tomorrow. Hoping the corn around us comes out this week, if it does should get deer bounced around a little.

Well the timber company we lease from decided it would be a great idea to come and harvest timber last week. Hopefully it only takes them about 3-4 weeks as they are only select cutting.

If it goes past 4 weeks we will be late getting seeds in the ground. It is also hindering setting up my lock ons and pop up blinds, but it will open up more options, Im trying to look at it in a positive light....
