There went the neighborhood! This thread is all downhill from here! LOL

:D

What can I say. William needed a few alternates to even teams up, and you guys needed a 5th.

Hoping to get out at least as much as I did last year. Still pretty busy at home. 4 in college now including my wife, 2 sons recovering from surgery, daughter dropped rowing, but picked up power lifting, and my youngest is 3rd trumpet as an 8th grader in his high school band, so my life really revolves around them right now, especially band. Supposed to get a big cool down tomorrow, so I might try and get out before the weekend, possibly Sunday. I know Saturday is out with 2 band events.

Trail cam is only picking up 2 fawns I've been seeing all summer. They apparently lost momma very early in their lives. I see them almost daily at all times of the day. Not much movement around me other than that, but I'm hopeful as the days get shorter and cooler.

I have to drive back to Missouri Friday morning. We have to get a few chores done but my buddy & I plan to hunt the afternoons no matter what. Weather looks a lot better with lows in the low to mid 40's & highs in the mid 60's this time. Wind direction opens up stands we weren't able to hunt last trip too. I should be able to get 4 or 5 afternoon hunts in & take care of the chores during the mornings till they are finished. Should be able to check some (if not all) of our 8 cams in MO while I'm there. I also have 1 more cam to set there that I just got fixed too. My cams in MS will have to wait another week before I check them now.

Good luck Rhino.

Our season opens tomorrow. Unfortunately, I've got to work. I plan on skipping lunch and taking off at 3:00. Should have time to shower and change and hit the woods for an evening hunt.

Even if I don't, overnight temps for this weekend are forecasted to be in the 40's now! Can't wait!

Friday afternoon I only saw does & fawns. We are holding off shooting does right now till we get a better feel for the impact on the herd from EHD die offs. Found another dead deer today..a fawn. Saturday afternoon a couple of young bucks passed inside 15 yards. Both were basket racks. Checked 5 of our 8 cams here in MO and the big one I've been trying to get on still hasn't shown up on the cams again yet. Some others I got in velvet haven't either though. Haven't checked the cam where I've gotten the big one most often yet. Probably check it tomorrow. I did get a couple of new shooters on the cams. One is a real weird 11 point the other a main frame 9 with a kicker that will score. I'll post pics of the weird buck when I get home. The rack is so strange I might have to shoot him if the opportunity comes my way.

I had a better afternoon yesterday but no shooter bucks. Saw 6 bucks (5 passing inside the circle of death), 2 does & 3 fawns. Entertaining watching the young bucks mixing it up a bit in the timber. Watched one tear up a small tree too. At dark I had a 3.5 year old 8 point (~130 class) pass by...he needs another year. Looks like the wind direction forecast has changed so I may be able to hunt the stand where I've gotten the big one most often. He could easily be on a new pattern now that acorns are dropping and the beans are dropping their leaves fast now.

Heading home tomorrow for a short break before I hit the woods this coming weekend hunting in MS. The following weekend I have to attend a wedding then from there I'm heading back to MO for a week.

I was able to get out Sunday evening. Temps were in the mid 70's. I saw a squirrel and a duck' date=' and about 10,000 red wing black birds. :D Might get a bit of a cool down Friday. We'll see.[/quote']

Chris, if you'll buy the license and the tag, and pay for your transportation, I can put you on one of these monsters down here in Oklahoma. Because we all know Ohio doesn't have any big bucks!

Wow...I almost typed that without laughing....almost! LOL

I had a fun afternoon yesterday...saw 11 deer hunting in the timber including 1 shooter 10 point (main frame 9). Tall tines & massive...never got inside 60 yards though. Had deer around all afternoon.

Now...my buddy (Ernie) hit one of our main shooter bucks...16 points all coming off the main beam and wide (190 class). Got velvet trail cam pics of him but he disappeared around Aug. 1st. 15 yard shot but he might have only gotten 1 lung from the stand I hung that's 24' high to the base of the stand. We tracked the buck till we lost blood last night till 11:00 ~125 yards past where he last saw the buck. Found more blood this morning and tracked him to where we found 2 of his beds close together. Lost blood a few yards past the 2nd bed in tall CRP grass. Needless to say, Ernie is sick right now. We're waiting on a guy with a tracking dog to arrive from Illinois about 5:00. Fingers crossed the dog can find him. Hope to be able to share pics, etc. in the bowhunting forum.

Oklahoma is stacked with giants from what I see and hear. I'd take you up on the offer, but principals have a funny way of wanting you in class during school days. I can't get off work like tire salesmen can. :D
