wtnhunt
No doubt the same deer. Congratulations. Never would have guessed him to be that old from your kill pic. No sway back appearance either. What caused his ear to be so messed up, fights?
Rhino
Figured fighting messed up his ear and and probably punctured his right eye too William. Pulled jawbone & teeth were worn out more than any other buck I've ever pulled a jawbone on. Biologist is going to call him 6+ because that's as high as they will go. It's pretty obvious from ~30 trial cam pics I saved from last year and the ones from this year his body size went downhill too.
Rhino
Just wondering...anyone else on the team still hunting besides me? Headed back to the MS club tomorrow. Mississippi River is rising fast and is or is about to flood everything between our W side & the river. All the deer between us & the river are headed to high ground. Most of our club is high ground. Hunted from 12/26 through this past Sunday morning. Last Friday deer started pouring in from low land W of us. It was like a zoo seeing a lot of deer every hunt. I didn't see any shooters but I know there's certainly more of them on us now. Headed back to the woods tomorrow to hunt through the weekend. MCH
I've got one more weekend and then I'm done for the year. Hunted three sits last weekend but only spotted three deer(two spikes and a yearling). Not expecting much in the way of success this weekend, so I'm pretty sure I'm done for the year. Enjoyed it guys!
Rhino
Season is open till the end of January here. Haven't seen a mature buck that would allow me to upgrade here in MS. Got a 3 year old 10 on cams but no mature 10's. Killed an old cull 6 point on my last outing in MS that, according to the jawbone was 6+ years old. Other than that, passed a couple of mature 8's that were short on tine length. I'll hit the woods a few more times before the season closes but prospects are poor for upgrading for me. Good luck this weekend Kevin and anyone else on the team that's still hunting. Enjoyed sharing my deer tales with y'all this year too. arrow32
Hope everyone had a great season this year I know I did. Didn't get to take one this yearticle but had a blast. Wasn't able to hunt as much as I normally do due to starting a new job. Hope yall had fun. Be safe
Rhino
The state Wildlife Commission had an emergency meeting and closed the season where my MS club is the end of the day Sunday, Jan. 17th. Probably political since the flood waters from the Mississippi River don't affect us but deer have moved east from low areas into the high ground on & around us. Anyway...had a lot of fun this year both in MO and MS. Time to loosen or pull stands and do some post season scouting both in MS and MO. Moved my 5 cams in MS to scouting positions to check for mature survivors. Headed back to the MS club this weekend to burn boot leather. Headed to MO in February to do the same thing there too. Once again...enjoyed it teammates. Good luck next year to all of you...and good luck to y'all come spring turkey season!
