hoosierhunter Posted September 17, 2015 Report Share Posted September 17, 2015 I'm already hunting. Our season kicked off in the 15th. It's earn a buck until Oct 1st so a doe will go down first. The shooter list isn't as impressive as years past, but I have a few that are old enough to tighten the string on. I went out in the 15th and had a nice 120's 3.5 year old come in along with 6 does. He's not old enough to make the hit list, but it was nice to see him up close. The does stayed out with the exception of one who came to 38 yards. Normally I'm comfortable with that shot, but it was so still I was concerned about her jumping the string so I passed. This is night 4 for me down here and the Bucks have not been cooperating. I did pass on a 125" 8 point on Wednesday night at 13 yards - he just wasn't what I was looking in for. Tomorrow night is my last night here then back to New York where our season opens on 10/1. So much stuff has been going on with the baby arriving on the 4th, just haven't finished it. Main frame is up but I need to finish the deck of it and get it up. Starts in a few weeks. I scouted yesterday and saw a nice 10 point. Got a picture of him posted in team 2. Looks like unless we get one more to play that I will be your teammate this season, if for some reason we get one more I will let them take my place here. Things here weather wise are not looking great for our opener this weekend with a warm and wet forecast, but all the corn around us is coming out right now so that could get things stirred up and I plan on being in the stand Saturday unless it is a monsoon. Will be my first year hunting with a crossbow. We have a decent 9 that I know I would stick an arrow in with the crossbow given the opportunity. Was pretty quiet and not much going on, did have a spike and a doe come through inside 30 yards about 7:50 am. I've tried to post the doe, but still not sure if the pics are showing up. We held off hunting this past weekend due to the wind being iffy. Dad and I both have earned our buck tag so it's time to settle in hunting our shooters. I've sent dad in twice after them to no avail. I will probably take a crack at some point in the next week or so. We are getting a front moving in tomorrow so fingers are crossed. I did almost have a big screw up prior to shooting my doe. I hunted a stand where we didn't think our bucks would be to kill my doe. Little did I know that one of our 10's walked in front of the camera during shooting light the night before. When I loaded the pics for my EHD thread, I loaded the pics, got a strange thumbnail come up instead of the pic, then using edit I reloaded the pic...then the pic loaded.
