Adjam5
Well I got it done here one town over in Rockland county. Shot my biggest buck to date with my Mathews. I kind of feel like I cheated by using my compound. I was practicing all summer with the recurve and I hunted with it from the ground yesterday morning. But for where I went in the afternoon. I needed more definitive accuracy from my bow expecting longer shots than capable with the recurve. With suburban hunting you need to kill that deer. Not have it die on someones lawn with a arrow sticking out of it. The buck gave me the shot I wanted and POW! He ran about 50yards into the thickest hard hack thorn bushes ever. I heard him crash. Measures out at just under 100" at 98". Right main beam was 21" left 19" with a 21" spread. A big 6. I'm happy Kind of anti climatic killing on opening day. But Hey...I'll find a way to deal with it. Adjam5
Thanks guys...I'm still smiling. Gonna do a Euro mount. My son Joe bought a grinder, some adult beverages and we will be in the garage cutting him up tomorrow. Still have a few doe tags for this area but the weather will not cooperate the next few days it seems. Extremely windy here.

Shaun_300
Nice one Anthony! Congrats! I killed a big 6 in 2004 rifle hunting, my biggest deer to date. He's on the wall. This year is my first year using my compound to hunt. There is a monster 8 around, saw him all summer but haven't saw him in a month or so. Hoping he's still around, it would make one heck of a first bow buck, and a nice addition to the wall.

Adjam5
Thank you guys and Ruth. It has been a while since I shot something here close to home. I prefer hunting an hour north of here. The animals are far less tolerant of human intrusion.and the probability of various game species are far more prevalent ( Bear, Coyote, turkey ect). My son Joe convinced me to hunt close to home opening day and I am glad I did. This was a good buck for me. Glad I was able to make the shot having been practicing with the recurve all summer, then picking up the Mathews for this hunt. Thanks again.
