wtnhunt
Had expectations we would get a good buck on this pull at this location, but no. Instead we had several pics of yotes, actually more pics of yotes than of deer and a couple of occasions of 3 in one frame. I hunted the opposite end of that field yesterday afternoon, saw no deer and could not see to where that camera is.
Maine Hntr
Yeah looks like a tough situation will, I'm having a similar issue where I am but not getting packs like that. Seem to be getting more yote than deer pics though. Good luck, maybe things will start to change a little being October.
Ravin R10 man
looks like you need to do some calling and long range shooting
Rhino
With daylight pics of them, if you have good cover in a stand around there you may be able to thin them out.
wtnhunt
With daylight pics of them' date=' if you have good cover in a stand around there you may be able to thin them out.[/quote'] They are standing real close to where I killed my buck with the muzzleloader last fall, same camera. Have two different stands I could get shots on them. I had pics of them during daylight again on the third on another camera about a 1/4 mile away. They are certainly not afraid to hunt during broad daylight. Problem is I cannot take my rifle and the crossbow at the same time. I heard a few nearby on a neighboring property well after light this morning.
Rhino
A crossbow will certainly do the job. Doubtful you'd get more than 1 shot with a rifle anyway.
wtnhunt
Not so sure why the uptick in the yotes on our property if it is lost deer or maybe some ehd dead animals or just what is going on, but there is a definite increase in their presence. A crossbow will certainly do the job. Doubtful you'd get more than 1 shot with a rifle anyway. Dunno about a follow up on a second dog unless everything lined up just right, you are probably right. Have heard intentionally gutting the first one would bring more around for follow ups but never tried it(young man told me the yipping and smell would attract others in the area to come in). Neither of those stands would be in close enough range to that sight, the ladder stand opposite end of the field is between 170 and 180 yards from where they are, however the box blind is only about 85 or so yards away and could easily shoot crossbow out of it if I was in it and they made their way closer along that same edge. I may sit out this afternoon with my 223. I heard some with the noon tornado sirens a little while ago that had to be fairly close by.
