SaskMan
Re: Musky Contest!!! Can we enter Pike in the Musky contest? I know musky get bigger but I'd gladly take my chances with 2 pike. Yeah Yeah, I know Pike are easier to catch but musky are bigger, please can we enter pike here too?
fisherguy
Re: Musky Contest!!! Umm if you include pike you better use a different formula for them. IF you want to count two pike as a muske that just isn't fair. A 54"musky is a big fish, but it isn't that hard to get two 40+ inch pike(depending where you live). SaskMan
Re: Musky Contest!!! fisherguy, I misunderstood the rules, I thought we were entering 2 fish, my bad. I know you can get pike over 40" just not usually 50+, this one came close last year, a bit over 48. I don't like my chances at catching a pike big enough to win but I'd take my chances with my best 2 against someone's best 2 musky, total length for 2 fish. fisherguy
Re: Musky Contest!!! You might since i won't be able to musky fish more than a few days when i visit home since i am at school. The right pike may win, i know there is one lake in particular where fish in the mid 40's are quite common(as in if you fish right for a couple days you should get one close to 44 or 45, and it produced a 53.5 a few years ago. JamesVee
Re: Musky Contest!!! My best that I have taken out of the water. I kept this fish and had it mounted. I caught a beauty on Fathers Day 2002 that I estimated to be over 52". Anyways, this one is 52.5" and 33lbs and 15 ounces, and that is official. SaskMan
Re: Musky Contest!!! James, that fish is a PIG!!! I don't know what the pike weighed, I put her back as quick as possible, got her on a musky type lure, a big 12" bucktail, usually pick up a few a year in the 45" + range. JamesVee
Re: Musky Contest!!! Mike, I use about the fastest retreival I possibly can. Always make you sure you have a full spool, this will increase the speed of your retreival. On crank baits, I jerk the snot out of 'em too. And be persistent. Some fish you have got to put that bait in the exact right spot before you get 'em to bite.
