Re: WOW

Yeah lol, every Nitro/Rhino combo is like that. At 40 yards on an extremely windy day I got 337 BB's in a 10" circle. At 25 yards I took the gobblers head off with a golf ball size dhole in the neck and a total pattern that may cover an area of 6" lol.

O.k., here is 25 yards in between the wind gusts. Notice the chunk of target missing out of the neck. The picture doesn't do it justice, it's much more impressive in person....

Re: WOW

LMBO................ see, that's the funniest part about it all. I hunt turkey with my bow 99% of the time. I just wanted to assure myself that when the 835 sees action it's as lethal as it can be. And judging from the pictures, I'd say it is lol.

Like I said, it is pricy, no doubt. But by the time you buy 4 different chokes and 5 boxes of shells, you could have bought the Nitro/Rhino choke and been done with it.

Another good choke for the money that shot pretty good out of my 835 was the Star Dot choke. They can be had on ebay for $15 new. I was putting a constant 25-27 BB's in the vital head area of a turkey at 40 yards with it in my 835 and had about 120 BB's in a 10" circle at 40 yards. At 50 yards it would still put 13-14 BB's in the kill area on average, but the pattern broke up too much for me to shoot that far ethically.

You don't have to have expensive chokes and shells to kill a turkey. I've seen several turkeys killed with 2 3/4" lead loads out of a shotgun with only a full choke barrel...it can be done. If you don't have the money, go with what you have and make the best of it. Good luck!

Re: WOW

hey sonovagun....call them to 35 to 40 yrds and the new fed or win will do the job..if we can't call them that close we don't have no business out there.and blasting away at 50 yrs..anyways to many people think they have to kill a bird to make the hunt a success..gosh if we don't kill one the sun will come up tomorrow..call them close thats the fun of it all.i also can't afford that much for 10 shells.well maybe i can but i'am not going to..ok guys get on me

Re: WOW

I like them close too, especially since I use my bow in the Spring 99% of the time.

However, if it's the last day of the season, my 835 is in hand, and a bird is hung up at 50 yards with 5 minutes left, he's dead lol. I am like you, I enjoy getting them up close and personal and I love seeing the looks on their face right when they realize they've screwed up, but I also love knowing that I can reach out to 50 yards if I have to.
