wtnhunt
Have heard of antlered does and even recall a story in the local paper here a looooong time ago(over 20 years) about one killed near here, but never seen one that I am aware of. Guess the question, did the hunter have a doe tag??? Course here with with a type 94 you are still allowed 3 does a day. Might be a headache determining check in. Got a big "doe" here we got pics of a couple weeks ago I am sure is a buck missing both sides, unfortunately those don't count to the buck harvests and can really screw up the already flawed data this state uses in determining limits. Ravin R10 man
Id think it would have been tagged on a buck tag Will....Thats what he thought he'd shot.
fly
In IL we have antlered and and non-antlered. This is the closest thing to an antlered doe I have ever harvested. Looked like a button doe! Buttons were not an inch long so I used my non-antlered tag on her.
colorado bob
Dang Fly----looks like you hit that deer on the wrong end.
fly
Very true Bob - the shot was back a couple inches and at only 20 yards I should have had better placement. The hole seen is the exit wound. The entry hold is seen below. The deer was slightly quartering to me, but enough to make a drastic difference in entry and exit. She ran 50 yards, stopped and fell over dead within a minute or two. I didn't bother to check the liver when I field dressed her but I'm sure that is why she died so quickly. Rhino
Guess the question' date=' did the hunter have a doe tag??? [/quote'] William...since the deer was killed in Missouri, I can easily answer this question for you. MO buck tags are labeled "any deer" so you can use it on either a buck or a doe. Doe tags are labeled "antlerless deer". For firearm season tags "firearm" is added in front of that. For archery season tags "archery" is added in front of that.
