How Many People Shoot NAP Spitfires.....

I have used these in the past but unfortunately I never harvested an animal with them. I am thinking about going back because I know they are an excellent head and I never hear anything but good about them. But before I do, I would like to hear if anyone has harvested deer, or any big game animal for that matter with a Spitfire by shooting them at a quartering away angle. Seems like most of the success stories I hear about them the animal was broadside, but do these perform well on angled shots too?

I shot two deer with them. One was a complete pass thru, the other I put the arrow thru the ribcage and into the opposit shoulder. They worked well. I did have a blade break on me though on the doe I shot. I have since switched to Grim Reaper, and have not shot a deer with them yet. Alot of people think Grim Reapers are better because the blades are farther down the ferrul from the tip, which will lesson the chance of deflection. I am hoping to form my own opinion this year. Here is a pic of the broken blade....

Shot one deer with a spitfire back in 2001. He was quartering away ever so slightly. The arrow only penetrated about 12", and buried in the off shoulder blade punching a hole in it. I hit the deer in the top of the heart, and severed the windpipe. He went about 20 yards. The deer was stone dead in about 15 seconds I'd say.

Re: How Many People Shoot NAP Spitfires.....

I've been shooting spitfire 100's for a while now and shot 1 deer and 1 bear that were quartering away.Had complete pass throughs on both.On the bear it entered at about the last rib on his right and came out just in front of his left shoulder. He went maybe 40-60 yards. The deer shot entered near the end of his rib cage and came out through the shoulder. It fell out of the exit hole as he ran,he went about 80-100 yards.Excellant blood trail on the deer but them bears don't bleed real well sometimes. But I heard him crash and moan so I knew he was down and close.Great broadhead in my opinion.
