Ravin R10 man
You poor people down south! Cant imagine 16+ inches of rain! Then you got a guy walking thru knee deep charging flood water...WHAT are you thinking??? https://weather.com/storms/severe/news/south-severe-weather-flooding-impacts
wtnhunt
Yesterday was a 30 percent chance of rain, it rained all day and saturated everything. Had flood warnings yesterday afternoon. Rain continuing through Sunday is not gonna be good. Standing water all over on high ground here right now. Have not checked our ground in the bottom, had some beaver traps i needed to check, doubt i can get to them right now.
wtnhunt
Schools closing early here today due to flooding. Bet they are closed tomorrow.
Ravin R10 man
No wonder people drown!...tv had trucks in nearly two foot of fast moving water crossing flooded road, making 4 ft wakes! For every 1 ft of fast moving flood water = 1,000Lbs. of force 2 ft.=2,000# They were so close to being swept downstream!
Rhino
Forecast shows we're supposed to miss the worst of it. Forecast says we are supposed to get 4" to 5" here. Raining HARD now though. To the N they're still forecasting 8" to 12"...same to the S toward SE Louisiana.
wtnhunt
Most of the ground we have in the bottom is about 4 feet under rapid moving water right now, hope the animals down there have made their way to high ground. Pretty big mess here and heavy rain now with no end in sight. Last I checked the weather this is a lingering system along the MS river that stretches quite a ways over several states. Ravin R10 man
Our snowmelt on Tues. had the ditches full, thats about as close to any flood we gonna see this spring
MUDRUNNER
We just missed it. The had forecasted 6-8" of rain for us this week, but a cold front pushed it just to our south and we ended up getting about an 1" or so.
Rhino
Yesterday we only got 1.8" of rain in central MS. A lot worse N of us here. Still raining but fairly light compared to what we had for an hour or so early afternoon yesterday. Today is supposed to be similar to yesterday except it's supposed to switch to on & off rain by early afternoon. With all the rain along the Mississippi River, there's a good chance it will rise above flood stage.
wtnhunt
Not sure the "official" rainfall total, but it was a lot. The rain yesterday early on filled all our stock tanks to overflowing. Have a large galvanized tub in the yard that is about a foot deep inside, was about 2.5 inches from being full, it was empty before the rain started. I would guesstimate that this area had in excess of 8 inches over about 24 hours. Just a light drizzle here this morning, but waters may not go down right away with river levels already up there is nowhere for the water to go. All the local schools were closed due to flooding, I know one road we have to use had water above the bottom of the bridge yesterday, but was not water yet over the bridge. That road may have been closed later on, have seen water over that bridge a few times in the past. Local news from the closest town about 30 minutes south of us showed several places there that were being evacuated due to floodwaters. Rhino
We got off easy compared to everyone N & S of us. Friday we got 3.2" & Saturday about 1". The worst of the rain Saturday was after 2:00. Got some bass fishing in Saturday morning through midday. Caught enough to fry fish for 4 of us Saturday evening & put some away for another day. Sunday morning went out to listen for gobbling turkeys on the roost. Wasn't the best of conditions (overcast & hazy with a light wind) but still heard 10 birds gobbling on the roost. I guess several days of rain had them more anxious to gobble. Season opens tomorrow morning so I'll be in the woods. Rain moving in again Wednesday afternoon with more rain in the forecast every day through Saturday. I'm going to try to get on some birds the next 2 mornings before the rain moves in again. wtnhunt
Flood warnings here remain in effect through tomorrow. Glad it is sunny now. Grass should really take off in pastures. All total i would guess we had over 12 inches of rain over about 5 days. Unreal how much sand has washed in.
Ravin R10 man
pouring out here now, they say up[ to 4 inches today, then the two lows are going to be vertically stacked, wed. up to 8 to 12 inches of snow! http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/mason-wi/54856/weather-radar/23794_pc#
Ravin R10 man
We do have some roads closed due to flooding, nothing major. "Wet" heavy snow, about 6+ inches, 10" in places
Shaun_300
It rained quite a bit here this past week. Now winter returned. It was only 12 degrees this morning. Doesn't look like it's going to last long though.
wtnhunt
Still river flood warnings, but waters here for the most part have gone down. We have seen a few days of upper 80's, yesterday was colder. Cleared a log jam where beaver have been an issue and out came a couple water moccasins. Got back to the garage and had to work on the tractor shifter and linkages, started snowing.
