1st IBO shoot of the year

Finished yesterday in 5th place in my class (17 total shooters) with a score of 291. I felt I actually shot well, I just misjudged yardage on a few targets which gave me a few more 8s than I wanted but I'm happy. Hoping to make a 2nd shoot next month, if I do then I can shoot at the state championship.

awesome 2nd shoot! can't expect much better than that. championships are won with scores of 15 or so up! a lot of times you end up being high or low out of the 11 even if you're shooting good. that extra or less couple yards is enough. when I'm hitting "X"s I've noticed I'm being particular with yardage. First break things down into nearest 10 yard increments to the target. now is it halfway between, like say 25 or 35? if not, now does it look like is it less or more than half? look at other objects right next to it or the terrain between it. uphill or downhill always assume your form isn't going to be perfect and you might shoot a tad higher.

little bit of both. not miscalculated yardage though. it's just you can judge line of sight yardage where up or down hill your arrow is effected only by the horizontal component of that. only when it's really steep do you really see the big differences of say 10 yards in perceived yardage vs actual horizontal yardage. usually it's the angle changing your form a little. you can bend at the waist but only so much.
