wtnhunt
Governor of CA signed it along with several other pieces of anti gun legislation, according to media sources interestingly he left the country for a trip to Europe immediately following. Wonder how many ill intentioned illegals are gonna check or register their ammo before they slaughter innocent unarmed folks with their fast and furious firearms our govt gave them. Penalizing law abiding gun owners. Cannot imagine having to pay a background check fee every time you buy a box of shells, ridiculous. ODH
It is ridiculous. But CA has had it's past of strict gun laws. Kinda funny how the states with high crime rates also are the ones with strict gun laws. I'm very happy to live here in Ohio where we are very pro gun legislature. Ohio doesn't even require myself to get a background check when purchasing a gun because of my ccw

Just thought I would add that .
Ravin R10 man
I guess the real question here is; How many if any, Mass shootings would have been prevented by this law? Gut feeling?? o
wtnhunt
I guess the real question here is; How many if any, Mass shootings would have been prevented by this law? Gut feeling?? o Right, criminals and mentally ill are not gonna line up to turn over their high cap mags or "button" release guns nor will this stop them from going to somewhere else to buy ammo. Our govt won't enforce current laws they have but wants to enact more laws to hurt law abiding citizens. Criminals don't follow laws anyway. If the feds hadnt dropped the ball with the Orlando terrorist he never would have been able to buy anything of course then he may have used pressure cookers. Once one of these bad guys claim jihad and pledge allegiance to isis or alqaeda or whatever they give up any and all rights whether they were a US citizen or not. They become enemy combatants and should be treated as such. AG Lynch wants to show them love??? This admin holds responsibility for several deaths that in all likelihood were preventable. Expect violent crime in Ca to continue. Have to kind of wonder if Illinois will be next in line or if this jerk in the white house might try to use executive order again on his way out the door. im your huckleberry
Wow!! I pity the Law Abiding firearms owner that must buy ammo what a hassle it will be.
Shaun_300
Wow, and I thought Canada was bad! All ammo, even 177 caliber BBs and pellets are kept under lock and key in glass cabinets in stores or behind counters where no customers are allowed. We have to show our Canadian Firearms Licence to buy ammo and it gets recorded into a store log book.

wtnhunt
Yeah best as I recall the ammo regs in canada are insane. A good while back someone posted about ammo left in his truck and his wife driving the truck and getting stopped. Best a I recall she got cited for not having the license, crazy. Sure don't need those kind of restrictions here. Tennessee carry permit from what does not exempt you from background checks on firearms purchases. stealthman
It's not quite that crazy in Canada yet. Your allowed to own guns and bullets, you just need a license to buy them, and a special license to buy restricted. Any restricted guns need to be regristered when bought and must be loacked up at all times seperate from the ammo. Our new deuce bag government (who is an embarrassment to our country by the way) is trying to tighten our gun laws even more, making it difficult to even own a gun. We have alot less shootings here and thats for sure, but we also have a lot less people. At the end of the day, it's not a gun issue, it's a mental issue when it comes to people doing mass shootings and such.

elkoholic
Coming soon to the whole country I'm afraid. This November will probably be the deciding factor. We are outnumbered and it is only a matter of time. Too many honest gun owners are standing on the sidelines thinking it will never happen and will not even join or donate to the organizations that have, to date, allowed us to retain our lifestyle. If it were not for the NRA and to a lesser extent many other hunter/shooting sport groups I believe our gun rights would have been taken away already. The next Supreme Court appointee may be all it takes.

Adjam5
NYS safe act provides for background checks for ammo purchases. But the Governor thought he was gonna use the FBI system with his state law. The Feds told him NO. So NYS is in the process of putting together their OWN data base for ammo purchases. NY gun owners can NO LONGER buy ammo through the mail. Has to go to a gun shop or FFL. Laws like these are EXACTLY why I am moving and retiring to Texas. Oh this next election is SOO important.
