Missed160
I was at a nature center near work yesterday and I saw an 8 point buck that still had both sides on.. This is about as late as I have seen a buck that hadn't shed yet..

need2hunt
Re: Bucks with Antlers Sue had some deer run across the road in front of her late last week... they included a big 8 and a big 12, both still packing all their headgear. We're heading down to McDonough count to look for sheds on Saturday.
too_pointer
Re: Bucks with Antlers Bucks around my area in Mi. have dropped already. I think it has alot to do with nutrition. They just aren't as healthy as deer in other areas. too_pointer

billygoat
Re: Bucks with Antlers Was out last night, counted close to 80+ deer, several bucks were still carrying their headgear. I've heard that bucks will not drop their antlers until they are done breeding... If this is indeed true, look for a longer, less intense rut next year (in the areas where these antlers are still head high)... due to the fact that the does will drop their fawns throughout a longer period of time... Which (and dogdoc can offer a little more animal husbandry thought) should cause those same does to hit estrous cycles at a more sporadic, drawn out, rate. western NY bowhunter
Re: Bucks with Antlers Just when I thought that all of the bucks here in western NY had dropped...2 friends of the family saw 5 different bucks around town last week that were still packing. All but one were nice 8-pts. or better bucks too.

wtnhunt
Re: Bucks with Antlers Have not seen any bucks still with antlers here. As a matter of fact the only bucks we have gotten pics of have been last years buttons, and they have had antler growth visible for about a month.
