Shaun_300
Recently I have found some sites that have used guns for sale and even some new ones here in Canada. I love that gunbroker.com website but unfortunately Canadians cannot buy from the site. I have been wanting to do some trading to have some different weapons and have done 2 deals so far. Sold the .220 Swift and traded the .25-06 for this beauty. Winchester Model 94AE in .307 Winchester. I've always loved the 94's but the .30-30 just isn't quite enough in my books for the hunting I do. So the .307 fit the bill. Identical to a .308 just with a rim on the case. I have bases to mount a scope but I still can't decide whether to just leave it alone as a 94 should be or put a nice little 2-7x40 scope on it. We'll see..... wtnhunt
If ballistics are comparable to a 308 i would scope it. Something i have not one of is a lever gun. May get one one of these days.
Strut10
Ballistics run about 100 fps behind the .308 Win. You're gonna LOVE your new gun !! I've got a pair of them..................one shooter............one safe queen. They are WAY COOL !!! For fun..................get yourself some 170grain lead cast bullets for the 30/30 and load them light with AA-5744 powder. GREAT for plinking. Shaun_300
This gun shoots amazing! I love it! Almost had another trade yesterday. A guy posted a Remington 700 RMEF edition in .257 Weatherby Mag, new in box unfired. I have wanted one of these guns for a long time. But would prefer the grey laminate stock with the stainless barrel. This one looked nice with the Realtree camo stock and black barrel though. I offered to trade him for my 700 CDL 7mm-08, he basically said yes right away then changed his mind to see if he could get the cash for it to get a gun he wanted. But said he'd contact me if he didn't get any action on it. As much as I love my rifle, I'd love this rifle! I just wish I had the cash in my pocket to buy it outright and have both, but unfortunately I do not!

I ended up instead going with the varmint stainless fluted in .308, will probably hunt with it this fall. May still eventually pick up a cdl sf in 270 or 30-06, have them on my saved search on gunbroker, ridiculous what some sellers are asking there though. Even used guns not new or even with the box in some cases being posted above the original retail. To the best of my knowledge remington still manufactures these rifles. dbHunterNY
only rifle I think I want is a custom job from Remington in Ilion, NY. I feel with the current NY governor and politicians it's harder and harder as a company for them to stay despite the generations of roots that lives and breathes in that old factory. quality seems to have gone down hill but I think there's some spirit left. For how long I don't know. on another note... I took my first buck with a Winchester 94. it was a 30-30 with a side mounted 3-9x30 scope. i'm open to all kinds of deer rifles with varying types of actions. the model 94 though will always have reserved parking in the sole of my hunting bones.
