Team 2 White Tails Matter

Keep at it Martin, it takes less than a minute to change the outcome of an entire season. I'm not sure why the Lord chose this year to bestow His blessings upon me, but I'll take it. My luck was terrible during the opening shotgun deer season this past weekend. The weather was having a bipolar issue with 70 degrees on Friday turning to thunderstorms Friday evening with 40 mph gusts of wind, turning to 29 degrees Saturday morning with 20 mph winds. Not the best conditions for tent camping (LOL). Anyway, Saturday was a jacked up mess but somehow I managed to harvest the biggest buck I've ever taken from public ground which ends my season earlier than ever before. Those target bucks I posted pics of from private ground will have to wait until next season. He's a broken brow tine main frame 10 with a 1 and 1/4 inch sticker off the back which gives him 10 score-able points and an additional point for the team. Here's one just for our team -  I'll put more pics and the story in the deer hunting room for anyone interested. It's been great sharing the season with everyone - thank you. Good luck to you all as we close out the season and have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Maniac - a person exhibiting extreme symptoms of wild behavior, especially when violent and dangerous.

I guess whitetail deer would certainly agree Joe - LOL.

Congrats on the buck Joe - I checked the pics you entered and from the racks on your wall I'd say you got a little mania going on as well. LOL

Frank, we are a no doe unit again this year.  I'd had one on the board 1rst eve, otherwise.

as far as bucks I let 8 walk opening day of gun season.

Late bow season, I will be on the board, I'm usually first one on board with a buck kill, at least the last several years.

Dont worry,  we got this, waiting for Aaron to lead us into the Promise Land!

You know what they say, you save the best for last ey?

You can always send me that lucky horse shoe you got!!...lol

I think that was the biggest surprise for me.  I fully expected to see you on the entry board first.  I think we got this, I'm really excited!

Sat this afternoon for a few hours with ML....that ends Wed., but figured I'd give it a try at least once this season. Passed a wide 6 with no brows, even though I have never shot a buck with the Omega yet.  a few small bucks were in also, along with the usual doe & fawns..bout all I got to report so far, never went this long in our seasons without firing a shot period!

On to late bow season

Good luck Joe! I decided to do a little more late season doe hunting with the X-bow at another one week public draw area that started yesterday. It's an odd area to hunt as I'm looking at a closed play ground area from my stand (LOL). I'm not expecting much but it's all I got as the private land I hunt is being logged and with all the chainsaw activity there isn't a deer on the property. I'm actually down to one and 1/2 deer in the freezer.

The guys running saws on the property beside us were there for a while.  About a month after they were done the neighbor had a couple trackhoes brought in, which were running during our prime time muzzleloader season.  Can be frustrating, I know.  We made some adjustments and hunted more away from that side of our property than we normally do.  I actually ended up back in that back field directly behind our house where I ended up killing that 9.  We have had a bit of a streak from that stand.

Wish Catrina had told more of the story about her deer.  We had gotten to utilizing the 4 wheeler more when stuck in stands to scare deer off on afternoon hunts so as to not educate the deer when climbing down.  Catrina would text me and stay in the stand and I would come and get her with the 4 wheeler or vice versa.  Anyway I offered to take her to the stand on the 4 wheeler that morning so if we bumped anything they might not watch her, so I dropped her off at the stand about 35 minutes before legal shooting light, curbside service. lol
