Dawg
Hunted a couple of times this weekend but nothing to show for it. Deer movement has slowed it seems. Jumped one deer up on some public land by the house, nothing seen at the lease.

im your huckleberry
It's either a big 8 or 6 he has no browtines, with the damage he does to trees wouldn't doubt if he wore them off , the other one is a monster 12 you can see his antlers a 1/4 section away. im your huckleberry
Seen about 275 inches of antler tonight, i don't think a bull elk counts besides i didn't have a tag so to pass time i watched the herd.
Dawg
Won't be able to hunt any this weekend. Rain is forecast for the next few days. Up to 5" is what the weather folks are predicting. If it shows any breaks I'll slip out to the public land down the road from the house.
Rhino
For the time being, I've been checking cams in MS, setting a few new stands with hunting buddies, and saving my energy for the rut to crank up here in MS. Got a couple of nice 10 points on cams recently in MS with one that looks real close to a 150 class buck. The other is ~140 but has better mass. Those are upper end bucks for this part of the country. Not likely I'll find one that's an upgrade for the team but who knows. Rut starts to crank up here in MS in mid December. I will probably make a trip back to Missouri this week so my son can bowhunt a few days. Since I'm tagged out in MO, I'll be relaxing & doing most of the cooking. Dawg
Not much to report on this end team. I haven't been back out since 11/27. Looks like my mulie buck will be my only contribution this year. I don't have anything at the lease that would be an upgrade for us and with a busy home schedule mixed with working every other Saturday it doesn't look like I'll get to make any serious trips out for the rest of the year. I'm still going to try though. A friend of mine put me on a spot in the Angelina National Forest where he scouted and saw what he believes to be ~140" 8 pointer. That'll probably be my main focus on any hunts I make for the rest of the year.
Rhino
My son saw some nice shooter bucks during his last afternoon hunt. One was a 13 point and the other a big 9...both I have on cams. Unfortunately they hung up at ~70 yards and stayed there feeding on beans for about 30 minutes. He also saw a shooter 10 point at long range too. All in all, he had a great hunt to end his MO hunting for this year. My buddy missed a big 9 Monday afternoon. He admitted he was so cold and shaking, he had a hard time holding his bow steady. He also misjudged the yardage shooting at him for 30 when the buck was closer to 35. Shot right under him. As cold and windy as it was, I was glad I was tagged out on MO bucks. Way to cold to bow hunt for fall turkeys. I'm not that mad at a turkey when it's that cold (wind chills below 10). I'll start hunting MS the beginning of next week. The rut in MS should be cranking up. No chance I'll bag an upgrade size buck. Got a few shooter 10 points on cams but nothing with more than 10 points here in MS. Rhino
Hunted Sunday afternoon through yesterday morning. Rut cranking up here in MS now. Saw 3 mature bucks, one a 140 class 8 point but couldn't get a clear shot. Heading back to the woods this afternoon to hunt through Friday afternoon. Should be a lot of fun here through the end of next week.
Dawg
Good luck Al! My season appears to be just about over. I'm not going to be able to go after the 8 point my buddy told me about. Just too busy around the house and work to make the drive over there. I'm going to attempt to slip out this weekend to the lease. My nephew went by and tossed out some corn and saw the 8 point I have on camera and one doe. They were in an area that can't be seen from any of our stands though, close to one but not close enough to be seen. Maybe I'll get lucky and he'll slip by this weekend. After this weekend I'm pretty much booked and mid January starts my sons high school fishing season so I'll be busy with that.
hoytshooter09
Team 2 has taken the lead guys. I'm your huckleberry didn't you post pics here of a doe kill? That would tie us with them if you can still post it.Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

Rhino
Thanks im your huckleberry for entering your doe. Tied for the lead now. The weather has been terrible for daylight deer movement in MS. It's been mostly in the 70's for highs since early last week. Couldn't have come at a worse time with the peak of our rutting activity coming at the same time. Deer sightings have been poor at best since it warmed up. im your huckleberry
Now we need stealthman to enter if he got anything but, from what I've heard and seen it's been slow, all that seems to be showing up are does with fawns. Find the receptive does and the buck will show up.

Dawg
Back at ya Shaun! It was a slow season for me with the only "real" hunting done in Colorado. It's all over for me until November.....hoping to have another lease lined up by spring. For now it's time to get the fishing gear prepped for this tournament season! fly
Congratulations Team 3! You all harvested some nice looking deer for sure and scored 61 points (almost)! Unfortunately I have some bad news to report. Al was wearing a blue undershirt instead of a camo one in the picture with his awesome MO buck which according to the rules results in a 0.25 point deduction leaving your team with 60.75 points and second place in the contest. You'll still receive a nice attaboy but the bad boy buggies will be going to team 2. LOL Seriously, it has been a lot of fun watching your teams progress and I look forward to having more fun with you all next season! -Frank

Well you can take the 1st place prize bad boy buggy. I'll take the lithium ion battery version of the Ranger EV for the consolation prize. Yep...overall, both teams had a great season. Next season I hope I break my string of bad luck on the odd numbered year deer seasons. Lately, it seems like the misses get worked out of my bow during those years. Whatever happens, looking forward to more fun in the woods next season too Frank.
