I could've swore it was a doe until I went to field dress it. But irregardless, there's meat in the freezer. Acorn crop looks weak and with the drought this year the soybeans look really sad. So far lots of deer sign not long until bow season now! Been busy as I help run an 11,000+ acre QDM Co-op. You're guaranteed a doe at least from me for points. We'll see about a buck. have multiple 8 pointers running around and whatever else works in once the stages of the rut kick in. I always wait until after they bucks disperse but I've got some cams out now. going on vacation with the wife 2nd week of bow season but will be back. won the championship for a 3D bow league that's gone on all summer. once I scout more and get on a deer I should be good once I get to full draw. dbHunterNY Posted October 4, 2016 Report Share Posted October 4, 2016 little rainy here this past opening weekend. had some encounters with many doe but nothing that was a slam dunk shot or wouldn't clear a field at prime time. stalked a buck to within range in a hay field using the hilly terrain and the wooded edge. nice 8 pointer with decent tines and spread to its ears. looked it over real good though and it was 2.5 yrs old all day long. meets the minimum for our QDM co-op but next year if it makes it it'll be a very respectable buck. have some youth hunting so it'll provide some opportunity if they so choose. setup up a couple other stand locations for a climber with a mock scrape and another one where a creek bottom feeds into a 10 acre corn field. gotta have options.
