Rhino
I'm having a great bow season so far in Missouri Tim. Saw several good mature bucks during my early season hunt (late Sept. into early Oct.) but non of them close enough. During my 2nd trip (10/26 - 11/5) I saw a lot of rutting action and killed a nice mature buck on 11/5. Story and pics here in the bowhunting room. I'm heading back to Missouri to hunt Sunday afternoon through the following Sunday to try to bag another one.
wtnhunt
Feeling of frustration setting in here Tim. Should be prime time the next 2 weeks, was seeing action pick up last week. Finally got our first frost this morning. Two good sized excavators have been running on the property right beside us since Monday clearing the mess his loggers left behind. A lot of commotion; banging, beeping, trees falling, and near dark a good bit of loud talking. What few deer i have seen since this started have been very nervous. Sitting in the stand the morning the still silence being broken as the sun comes up by the sound of tracks and beeping then cracking and crashing. OKstate
The Images on my cameras are showing that things are picking up here in OK, and I am planning on being in the tree bright and early tomorrow morning! Hopefully the big boys will be out and about.

Rhino
Tim...I killed the biggest 8 point, by far that I've ever killed this morning in Missouri. Gross score 161 3/4". I'll post pics when I get home. Right now I believe they are now on the back side of peak breeding (lockdown) here. The big boys are back to running does again. This one sure was! The Bug House
I learned this year that passing one up is slightly less of a jagged pill to swallow than missing a shot. lol! Lots of Does around, I passed on a couple small ones, my freezer is still empty. I've found a decent rub in the usual corridor on the land I hunt, should get out Fri / Sun / Mon coming up. Still after my first Buck.

Rhino
Seem to be in the pre-rut slump here in southwest MS. Equivalent to the October lull but since the rutting activity here doesn't crank up until mid December, the pre-rut lull is later than most of the rest of the country. Since I've already had a great season hunting in Missouri, I'm going to save my energy until rutting activity picks up down here.

Hunted pretty hard after my wife got her deer Tuesday and saw great movement Wednesday morning, but has since gone completely dead with not having seen a single deer since then. Afraid my 5 year old gave me pinkeye on top of this crud I hadn't been able to shake. Our son Will came home from school with pinkeye twice in the last month, surprised i made it this far before getting it. Did get out for about 3.5 hours before church yesterday morning and saw a yote, shot at it broadside at 130 yards with a good solid hold and missed, something just not right. Time for a break to try and recover and gonna do some rechecking on that 270 and the core lokts.
Tim Andrus
Hate when that happens and yes check that rifle On a positive note better to have miss on coyote than big buck!

Actually Tim, did unfortunately miss a real nice 9 point last Monday morning that I think will make the 130's. I shot two rounds last Tuesday from the bench with the rifle at 100 and both were dead center on windage, the first 3 inches high and the second 1 inch high. Gun is sighted at 1 inch high so it should be good, but gonna recheck with rounds from a few different boxes.

fly
Having a great season Tim. Have harvested a couple does and two nice bucks - one from KY (private) and one from IL (public). The stories and pics are in the Deer Hunting room. Thinking the KY buck is 4.5 and will score about 135 and estimate the IL buck to be 5.5 and score about 145. I too was happy to see William get some redemption on that 9 point!

Turned out to be a real good season for me too, killing 2 of the top 3 bucks i knew had been in the area around our small farm. Only thing that would have made the season better would have been to see the girls take one of those deer. Still about a month left to go for the girls, no idea if the big ugly 8 is still alive. Congratulations to you Tim and to everyone else. Been some great deer killed this year.
Rhino
I've been on the sidelines since tagging out in Missouri on 11/15. I haven't been in a deer stand since then. A front is moving through here in Mississippi tonight so I'll hunt tomorrow afternoon through Wednesday. Rut should be cranking up down here now. We'll see! Rhino
Hunted Sunday afternoon through yesterday morning. Saw the 1st buck chasing Monday morning. Saw a mature buck cruising during 3 out of the 4 hunts I made. Saw a real nice 140 class 8 point yesterday morning but never had a clear shot. Heading back to the woods this afternoon to hunt through Friday afternoon. Then back to the woods again after Christmas to hunt next week. Time is right here to put as many hours in a stand as possible.
