thebig1
Re: work.... right now i'm working as a shipping clerk at 1 or 3 main distribution centers for OfficeMax. the job is great but the pay is very low. i'm just waiting to be processed through the PA Dept. of Corrections system to become a Corrections Officer. hopefully this will happen in the next month. references have been contacted, previous employers have been contacted and previous residential police agencies are being contacted now. i'm just hoping they finish with the background check soon. i'm drowning here. after i get in, i hope to go far since i have a degree. VTbowman
Re: work.... I am currently working at the best job I have ever had. 12 hour shifts, 4 days on-3 days off, 3 days on- 4 days off schedule. So I have 3 or 4 day long weekends! My job is akin to being a firefighter. Long periods of mind nubbing boredom with about 15 mintue of high stress. I "work" as a robotics tech, contracted to IBM here in Vermont. I am paid to sit and burn time surfing the net, reading, and currently playing PS2 games all day long. I am here basically to clear alarms "if" they happen at all. I once had gone 6 days in a row with no alarms. I have no structured breaks or lunch. Some days lunch can go as long as 3 hours long if so desired.... Breaks as well... We are on a paging system that literally pages you with what machine is alarming and what the alarm is. Pretty easy trouble shgooting... LOL Did I mention I get paid real well for playing vidoe games all day long.... LOL I do have a few minuses to my job: No vacation, holiday, or sick time. I get paid for the hours I work. Period. If a holiday lands on one of my normally scheduled days I get straight time. To include x-mas if the plant remains open. It can really suck during hunting season too. I work inside a clean room so I have to wear those white bunny suits all day long. My commute to work is 47 miles one way so in short my day is about 14 to 15 hours long by the time I get home at night. Which means I have no family life while on my work week. (Wife and kids asleep when I get home.) Sleep-Eat-Work and thats it. Other then that its great!!!!
