wtnhunt
Where are yours set? Finally broke down and bought a wheeler trigger scale not too long ago. Didn't realize how much variance there was in some factory set triggers. The guns i most often hunt with: My cva accura was right at 2 lbs. The Rock river varmint just under 4 lbs And the old remington 700 in 270 i hunted with for years was between 5.5 and 6 lbs. Ended up doing a trigger job on the 700 bringing it down to 3.5 lbs and took out the slop. What huge difference. Wifes savage model 10 i did a trigger job on years ago is at 4.5 lbs. Rhino
Don't own a trigger scale William. I asked to have my Wby Mark 5 set at 3 lbs. when I bought it a long time ago and had a gunsmith set it up for me. Not sure what my Remington Model 7 is set at but the pull on it is a little heavier than my Wby. I'd guess it's ~4.5 lbs., just my best guess though. After the issues I had with missing that 9 point with my 270 I wanted to start looking closer at why I missed and try to eliminate potential for future error on my end. I knew the trigger on my model 700 was heavier than the other guns I had been shooting more often, but did not know exactly how much. Think possibly I was pulling harder with that trigger pulling my shots down rather than squeezing my shots, making those long shots end up low and resulting in a miss. Strut10
Most of the rifles I'd be carrying are set at 36 oz. A couple I would most likely be sitting and watching with are set at 24 oz. The front trigger on my flintlock is set at about 1 oz ................ maybe 2 oz.
im your huckleberry
The Weatherby should be set at 3.5 lbs. The Mark V that I own is, my t3 lite has a factory setting of 2.5 lbs and adjustable to 2 lbs. Both are fairly new so they are still crisp with a very nice sear. wtnhunt
Hopefully will be able to do a lot more off season shooting this spring than we did last year.
Shaun_300
I've never really played with triggers, my newer 700 CDL has the factory adjustable trigger. I forget what they said it was set at, I want to say 4 or 5 pounds. I cranked it down a few turns to lighten it up but never put a scale on it. Yeah Shaun people either love or hate the remington xmark pro trigger. My 700 vsf in .308 that I bought last year was also at about 5.5. I have yet to really decide, have not played around with it much, yet. Plan to turn it down to about 3.5. I have to admit I need to do more shooting NOT from the bench rest or any bags this off season. Probably do more shooting off sawhorses and freehand. But I also plan to do a lot more work with tweaking some handloads.

wtnhunt
Got the trigger on the 700 vsf under 4 lbs with the adjustable trigger but don't think i am gonna like that so much. Screw is backed out too much for my liking, i may turn it out another quarter put a drop of glue on and turn it back in.
Dorothy Payne
es you should use a release aid on any hunting bow and for a high draw weight compound bow it is required by the physics, it is possible to do damage to the blood vessels and nerves in your fingers if you don't. I agree totally on the accuracy aspect with regards to hunting. I will often stalk to within 10-15 yards so I can be confidant, even with the hart pumping and a bit of fatigue, that the arrow will go inside of an inch circle where I aim it. Ultradog
Not quite the same but I have several hunting triggers. Cool fall days with falling leaves, sales at GanderMountain or Cabellas, sighting in my rifle, talk about successful hunts in the past and other things are all triggers for me and make me want to get out in my stand.
